Is this the worst decade for music yet?
>>
>>63905112
>all this meme rap and indie shit
Wew lad, and people bitch about too much metal on rym
>>
>>63905112
>all that white guilt.
>tame impala.

>>63905135
you are right but you are also wrong, metal is for kids and it´s the most cringeworthy genre ever.
The whole concept of the thing is basically a joke.
>>
>>63905216
I remember when I was 16 and thought all metal is just noise
It is the only form of rock music that is still interesting
>>
is that moonsorrow album that good?
>>
>>63905277
If you like epic pagan folk black metal in spurdo language yes
>>
>>63905216
>>63905240
>metal is for kids and it´s the most cringeworthy genre ever.
>It is the only form of rock music that is still interesting

fyi, yr both retards
>>
>>63905301
is it 16th best album of the decade tier though?
>>
>>63905315
It will drop eventually
>>
>>63905112
the only decent albums on that chart are the ones made by women

this is all the proof you need that men are over
>>
>>63905334
Joanna Memesom is overrated trash
>>
>>63905112
This decade has produced one 10/10, HOOM. Last decade produced 0, so I'm inclined to say last decade is the worst for rock music. Jazz and classical are becoming slightly more popular again, too, they were at an all time low in the early 2000s.
>>
Is this supposed to be your best example of this decade being shitty? There's absolutely nothing wrong with this chart, except maybe for MBDTF being at #1.

I can fucking guarantee that any other order of albums could be on this chart and you morons would still call it shit.
>>
>>63905407
0/10
>>
>>63905424
Name one 10/10 album between 2000-2009. You can't, there aren't any.
>>
absolutely
>>
>>63905448
You'd say they are shit so what's the point

Agalloch - The Mantle
Arcade Fire - Funeral
>>
>>63905354
perhaps, but she is better than all the men there else there who are overrated leprosy riddled tumorous sewer rats
>>
>>63905477
Those are not shit. They are fine albums. They are not, however, masterpieces, or even close. Funeral is a 8/10 in my book, and I'm going to abstain from rating The Mantle because metal sucks.
>>
>>63905448
Radio head - Kid A
>>
>>63905448
Ys
>>
>>63905561
>I'm going to abstain from rating The Mantle because metal sucks.
Well it's barely metal so you might try it
>>
>>63905112
blackstar, newsom, archandroid, ravedeath and cosmogramma are all excellent and deserve to be in any best of the decade list

kendrick is accomplished but not really my thing, can't hold that against it

rest is trash
>>
>>63905112
>no Steven Wilson
>>
>>63905588
Not bad but extremely overrated. OKC is better, and Amnesiac is at least equal. 6/10

>>63905591
Interesting, but not as good as HOOM. Songs are... overwrought, I guess? and less creative. 8/10

>>63905640
I did actually listen to it once, though that was a long time ago. I vaguely remember lengthy sections of not metally stuff but also lengthy sections of extremely metally stuff (and by that I mean too metal for me.)
>>
>>63905240

Go and keep listen to your linkin park and your deftones my boy. They r good af.
Also metallica is rad or that band slipknot! they are so aggresive, masculine and heavy!

Using overdrive pedals and black t-shirts is just so cool that it changed my life!

I hear a song on the radio and I literally thought "man, this rapper sounds silly, I bet no one really takes him seriously." Then the DJ came on and says it's Kendrick Lamar. What the hell's so great about this goofball again? Is it HONESTLY white guilt?
>>
>>63905798
I hate his shtick but he's a talented composer, or whatever term you would use for rap music. There aren't really other people in rap music nowadays who make songs like How much a dollar cost or whatever the you nigga booboo song is called
>>
>>63905706
>only lists shitty mainstream bands
more proof /mu/ knows nothing about metal

Noise can actually be interesting unlike metal
>>

>Noise can actually be interesting
>dude muh textures lmao
>>
>>63905448

I usually don't give 10, but

Joanna Newsom - Ys
Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You
Black Dice - Beaches & Canyons
Vladislav Delay - Anima
Low - Trust
M83 - Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts
The Fiery Furnace - Blueberry Boat
Dan Deacon - Bromst
Clouddead - S/T
Battles - Mirrored
Xiu Xiu - A promise
The Microphone - Mount Eerie
Demdike Stare - Symbiosis
The Books - Thought for Food
Vibracathedral Orchestra - Dabbling With Gravity
Today Is The Day - Sadness Will Prevail
Volcano The Bear - Classic Erasmus Fusion
Gnaw Their Tongues – An Epiphanic Vomiting Of Blood
and a few others,

kick ass to everything that came out after 2010.

Fuck off cancerous tripfag

no shit
>>
>>63906823
Some of those are good, some are okay, some are shit, none are 10/10 masterpieces like HOOM
>>
>>63907335
No.

You listen here: Shut the fuck up.

Just do it.

I haven't explored metal, so I don't have an opinion concerning it, and I similarly don't feign such by spouting such narrow conceptions as you've done here >>63907252
>>63907199
>>63906323.

That's disingenuous, a heinous disservice to rhetoric and the quality of this board as a whole.

If you want an opinion on noise, you need to earn it. Until then, you shut the fuck up and sit idly, never qualifying its merits as a genre.

Do not make me repeat myself.

Shit list. TPAB is the only rap album that deserves to be in the top 10. Why the fuck is MBDTF so overrated? I mean I like it but it didnt blow me away. I actually thought yeezus had better tracks
>>
It probably seems that way if you spend all your time shitposting about music that you hate
>>
>>63907447

Here's a tissue. Weep because you're not as cool as us. Science says so.

>>63905277
Yes.
>>
But this is the decade that gave us masterpieces by Earthless, All Them Witches, YOB, Giant Squid, Melt Banana, Earth, Conan, and..

oh wait, I'm on /mu/ and you guys hate real music
>>
>>63905112
No. We've had HOOM, The Seer, Liturgy, Sunbather, Blackstar, Komara and TMS and we're only halfway through the decade.
>>

>Swans, Sufjan, Arcade Fire

You're not too far off either
>>

yep, genuine retard. I was clearly condemning both the idea that metal is for children, and the idea that meal is the only worthwhile genre

This is a 10/10. One of the best rock albums since the golden age of the early 70's.
>>
>>63907900
It's very good, but not really original, 8/10
>>
>>63907900

Dead Roots was better
>>
Almost all noteworthy electronic releases are underrated on that site.
>>
>>63907947
it is the first stoner prog album ever released
>>
>>63907947
>>63907963
I respect your opinion but I really think if it had come out in 1972 it would be a celebrated classic on par with zepp and shit.
>>
>>63908012
That's not true, though. Tool could definitely be classified as stoner prog.
Lore is an amazing album nonetheless.
>>

>>
>>63905448
The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand
>>
>>63908054

Well you can say that about a whole lot of stoner/psych though, it's not that original

It's a good album none the less and Elder are cool

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia and Deadwing

i'm not even into electronic and i completely agree, rym rock and meme rap bias is disgusting.
>>
>>63908061
huh, it would never have occurred to me to think of tool as stoner. i get that you could compare them to an isis-y post metal thing but i don't hear the stoner.

>>63908203
YOU could perhaps, but i could not. i would seriously love to hear more music like Lore and if you can recommend me specific albums i'm not going to complain.
>>
>>63908369
The lyrical and humorous side definitely leans to stoner, and their Undertow and Aenima era guitar riffs sound very stoner to me atleast. Not in a completely typical way, but hence the "prog" part.
>>
>>63908561
Oh and I must add that Rosetta Stoned especially is very stonery in every sense of the the word, when talking about music
>>
>>63907770
>Komara

literally who or what?
>>
>>63908674
like fair enough bro but i wouldn't say Lore was really influenced by Tool

to prove me wrong i feel as though other albums that sound similar to Lore should be mentioned

>>

There's 8 albums on that list alone that are at least 9/10s, and plenty more that aren't on it. RYM is just retarded.
>>
>>63908727
AOTY of last year.
http://music.komaraband.com/releases

"Boundary-Breaking, Cinematic Industrial Ethno-Rock From
King Crimson’s Pat Mastelotto and Renowned Avant-Experimentalists David Kollar and Paolo Raineri.

It fucks with your head and has the ability to fluctuate your levels of sobriety even if your system is clean of drink and mind-altering drugs. But as far as mindfucks go, this is damnably compelling. With album art coming from the bewilderingly ingenious mind of Tool guitarist Adam Jones, Komara is a foray into obscure territories.
Dirty Smelly sounds like sin and seduction. . ., reverb lavished trumpets and twinkling sound effects spreads about the song’s atmosphere like a vile of blood dropped into a glass of crystal clear water. It blots the palette in mesmeric fashion, the red of the blood moving about the water like tree roots venturing through soil for nutrients. Deeper in those waters a venomous, barking bass line dwells and gives the whole a definitively nastier guise. "

>>63908752
I didn't say or imply at any point that they were, just pointing out that Tool could also be considered stoner prog and that Elder isn't the first band to experiment within that genre. They just do it differently than the stoner prog bands before them.
>>
>>63908860
i'm just saying maybe stoner prog is a bad term if it allows you to claim that elder and tool are in the same genre
>>
I think that the 720s was a little worse.
>>
>>63908938
Why?
Slint and Swans are both post-rock and sound literally nothing alike.
Focus and Yes are both prog and sound nothing alike.
Death Grips and Kanye West are both hiphop and sound nothing alike.
>>
>>63905797
>spaceghostpurrp
>raider klan at all
opinion discarded
>>
>>63908982
at this point i am sort of getting carried away with the argument, but so be it:

I would argue that you provided three instances of genre labels that could use refinement.

Especially in the case of Death Grips, I think it's for example very informative to acknowledge the amount of punk and noise that comes into play in their music. I would say they are primarily a punk rock band that happens to borrow instruments associated with hip hop, but then uses them in a distinctly punk way.

Post- has always been a useless prefix. At what point did old rock end and new rock begin? Obviously there were going to be new iterations of rock after post-rock, so are they now post-post-rock? In this case it's much more instructive to look towards Swans' industrial influences as differentiating them from Slint.

I don't know that I agree that Focus and Yes sound nothing alike.
>>
>>63909074
you have bad taste in music
>>
>>63909108
My point was that there have always been and always will be bands within arbituary labels and genres we give them that won't sound like exact copies of each other. Just because Tool doesn't sound like Elder to you doesn't mean that they aren't both "stoner prog".

And yes, this argument is pointless to have since we both agree with each others and this has gone to semantics really.
>>
>>63909162
the only two good raider klan members are xavier wulf and denzel curry and they both were only members for a year

is most of it inessential? obviously.
