Vaporwave will only die if you let it die.

i like this one
>>63894896
he ded
vaporwave's pretty much dead on /mu/ and even reddit
tumblr/facebook/ifunny/etc. are just getting into it
/mu/ is moving on to city pop aka the genre vaporwave takes and slows down
>>63894896
anon, did u ded?
I really don't think that album is as impenetrable and abrasive as most people think it is.
After the initial ORAPORAPORAP its a lot more digestible, reminds me a lot of really early vaporwave like ECCO UNLIMITED.
>>63894884
Its like chillwave, its a decent enough genre itll stick around a while
>>63894896
what the fugg
>>63895789
Chillwave wasn't nearly as much tied to "meme" culture as vaporwave is though.
Unfortunately I think vaporwave will just be looked back on as macintosh plus - 420, yung lean shit and le aesthetics memes.
i like vaporwave it helps me snooze
>>63895814
chillwave was also, you know, good. and original compositions.
toro y moi, neon indian, washed out, etc. were legitimately talented musicians who were able to make a transition to a different style. vektroid and saint pepsi are not and look at saint pepsi's skylar spence shit. no one likes it and its generic as fuck brooklyn disco pop. people only listen to his vaporwave stuff which isnt even technically his music
>>63895856
Vektroid actually had a pretty strong variety in releases, I mean Home and Shader are completely different from Floral Shoppe, and went on to make their own electronic stuff. Starcalc and Polytravellers show how big a distinction between names.
I always thought vaporwave was tied to DXM and robotripping. There is a sense of empty spirituality in it which directly ties with the DXM headspace.
>>63895900
nvm for a sec I forgot vektroid is also laserdisc visions/fuji grid tv/etc.
neo cali is pretty good album too
perhaps yung bae would be a better example
i'd say OPN and ferraro but they're good and didn't intend to be vaporwave in the first place
>>63895909
There is a pretty heavy dissociative element to vaporwave, and the layered chopping and screwing has gone great when I've tripped to MXE to it.
>>63895925
While I get your distinction between vaporwave and chillwave, I think it matches it very well. The big names in chillwave were able to move and do different things, while a whole bunch just made the same reverby summer synthpop over and over. Vaporwave's big names have all more or less moved on, but there's countless people doing the same Japanese character eccojams stuff.
what will the vaporware revival be called?
>>63895141
terrible, terrible album
>>63896591

>>63895141
