So I feel like a teenage girl right now but I finally got into The Smiths after loving TQID for a while and now they're the only thing I can listen to. Can we talk about The Smiths? What's your favorite album, songs, riffs, lyrics etc.
When I first started listening to them I did it mainly for Morrissey's singing and I thought the guitar playing blended together and made a quite generic sound across their discography and now I have no idea what the fuck I was thinking. Johnny Marr's guitar playing is fucking amazing and probably my favorite part of the band. My favorite album right now is probably Hatful of Hollow and I'm currently obsessed with the John Peel session version of This Charming Man

the queen is dead is really washy and doesnt' show off marr at all.
after you listen to enough of them you realize that their debut is their best album

Yeah I see that now. My process of getting into them was actually really slow. I heard Frankly, Mr. Shankly on a youtube video and I fucking loved that song but I couldn't get into the rest of the album, then eventually I started loving the album and went on to the rest of their discography. I'd also say Hatful is the best place to start.

Probably yeah. I'm just so overwhelmed with all of their music right now that I can't really have a rational opinion but I've played The Queen Is Dead the most for sure.
