Idk if it's because everything that could be said about this album has already been said or because /mu/ is filled entirely with contrarians/masochists who only listen to music you have to force yourself to enjoy, but what do you think of The Wall? Is it Roger Waters ruining the bands sound with his overbearing control or is it Roger Waters overbearing control...producing a classic album, although less experimental and straightforward than previous PF albums?

Also, favorite song?
> Another Brick in the Wall part 1
Second favorite
> Goodbye Blue Sky

The older I get, the more I realize how overrated The Wall is and how underrated Piper, Saucerful, Ummagumma and Meddle are.
>>
I don't really like PF, but that album was quite shit. It's reptetive, "classic rock sounding bs. Can't think of a cheesier album 2bh.

I agree to the point where I don't hold it in the same regard as Piper,WYWH or DSOTM and I also agree ummagumma and saucer dont get the credit they deserve....but there are parts of the wall I really enjoy. ABITW is catchy as fuck.

The Wall is almost like a parody of everything that's bad about prog, except it's actually not trying to be a parody.

Like the opposite of Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick.

The Wall is not very good. It would be great if it were cut in half, but in its current form, it's a struggle to listen through.
>>
What Roger Waters did with a two record set, Steely Dan could convey the exact same message in a five minute song, and it would actually be FUNNY!

The Wall is a powerful work. It's not perfect, but it's a dominant presence in the landscape of contemporary music. Music history without The Wall is like Paris without the Arc de Triomphe or New York without the World Trade Center

I unagree. Also, it was orginally a 4-disc album that they culled down to 2.
>>
>>63885327
It's a rock opera, it's not trying to be progressive in any way.

when you attack the individual's identity, you lost the argument. I win, and for further reference nothing in your statement is true

I really don't understand how can someone not get tired of Roger Waters bleating about how crappy the world and his life is/was in The Wall and The Final Cut. He's not even a bit subtle with that thing, it's annoying as fuck.
>>
>>63885732
by not listening to it constantly, just in moderation

One of the best albums ever created. Dunno why people complain about the length - the album's an adventure, and none of the songs (bar Vera Lynn) detract from it.

Underrated song (since I love the entire thing)
>Empty Spaces
Underrated 2
>Goodbye Cruel World
