Hey anon, what do you think about the new album of deftones?
There's six good songs on this thing. Which sucks. Deleted xenon, acid hologram, geometric headdress, Pi and gore. Super disappointing.

I do and what they hear in acid hologram is a disjointed, cluttered mess. Doomed User was a grower that clicked after awhile. AH hasn't. Matter of fact, DU being after AH makes it sound a million times better.
RUBICON is the best song of the year.

Entombed and Rosemary are to me cookie cutter mellow Deftone tunes. Only thing setting them apart is some different song structure on Rosemary and the chugging guitar at the end. Doesn't do that much for me. To be honest, I'd pick tunes from SNW over anything they've released. I liked Gore because it reminded me of SNW a bit.

i'm not the guy you're talking to but does your preference for SNW have anything to do with when you got into Deftones? I got into them right after the White Pony period and I feel like I'll always pick tunes from that over anything they've released, but basically everyone i know irl seems to like the album they heard from deftones first the best so I'm wondering if this holds true with you

and if not, what makes SNW your favorite??? To me it just seems kind of sleepy and pieced together on the whole, but it certainly has a wide range of songs and some true standouts

First song I heard was Knife Party. Then Elite. White Pony was my first album. I liked SNW because of the sleepy feel, how the band chose to arrange the songs and the way Chino used his vocals. It was audible he strained his voice a lot and to me there's something very real and inviting about that. SNW sounds really intimate to me and that's what I like about the band. Compared to KNY where you're greeted with songs like Swerve City which sounds like a B-Side reject off of Diamond Eyes. I mean I get it, people like the mellow x hard rock fusion of Deftones but I always appreciated the weirdness Chino sometimes brings with his odd vocal melodies and accents. Beware is a perfect example. That's what I got from Gore too.
