He fucking did it.
This is insanity, I feel like it is the E2-E4 for this generation.

I don't know, I was hoping for something a little... boulder.

James Holden. The guy that released this in 2013.

He's been playing with this aesthetic for a while in an attempt to make more organic sounding electronic music.
He released the OP album earlier this year and it is completely composed using fractal sequencer that Holden designed to make extremely complex compositions.

I don't know if it's E2-E4 quality but it is pretty interesting.
I just listened to the 555hz part of this and it was pretty amazing drone. I like this a lot, thanks for turning me on to it.

I only knew James Holden for his trance tracks. This is actually pretty good, OP. Didn't know he had changed his style this much.

I listen to music like this all the time and really did not fuck with this. Sounded like a basic synth patch looped on a delay with some tabla thrown over it. I appreciate the headspace and aesthetic of it but it was just not very interesting to me.

It's definitely a......pebble

I think this is fair. You probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and a track that simulates the sound too much unless you have been studying composition but I still think it's a cool experiment. And I like these kind of long form ruminations on a sound and aesthetic.
If you like drone though, I'd recommend you check out the Luke Abbott half of this split album if you haven't already. It starts just sort of ebbing but really develops into something interesting after 5 or 6 minutes.
