Best decades in music
80s > 60s > 00s > 90s > 70s
>>

>>
>>63842929
>90s worse than 00s

2/10
>>
>>63842929
>00s > 90s

I will have to disagree with that.
>>
>>63842964
>>63842971
I can't stand most of the alt rock in the 90s, 90s has great hiphop though
>>
>>63842929

60s = 70s = 80s > 90s >>>>>> 00s
>>
>>63842929
80s gold>70s>90s>2000s>80s shit I don't know too much about the 60's to pass judgement.
>>
>>63842929
This is backwards except 90s is above 70s.
>>
>>63842929

60s>70s>80s>90s>00s

I was born in LE WRONG GENERATION LMFAO! I like Beatles songs whilst all of the other people my age listen to Justin Bieber and One Direction. Well guess what I dislike those guys even though they are new fangled and popular hahaha! Hardly anybody expresses this opinion though :(. Patrician status: totes lol!
>>
90s = 60s > 00s > 70s > 80s
>>
>>63843016
This but 90s in the front, 10's on the same level as 00 sf
>>
>>63842929
your right the 80s were great
>>
>>63842929
the 80s were gay
>>
a lot of my favourite music comes from the 90s. the total weirdness yet huge variety of early post-rock, endless list of utter hip-hop classics, indie rock still had some actual balls thanks to dat nirvana influence, IDM was at its peak, electronic music in general was great, trip-hop happened, shoegaze happened, and fuck it, I like a lotta grunge and britpop too

ranking decades is still fuckin stupid tho
>>
>>63842929
70's were top tier kys. Better than 80's 90's and 00's. probably equal to 60's
>>
70's=60's>80's>00's>90's
>>
70s > 80s > 60s > 90s > 00s
>>
70s > 90s > 00s > 10s > 60s > 80s

Good lord the 80s were shit
>>
>>63843438
>Good lord the 80s were shit

You don't know what you are talking about.
You must be one of those retards who think that musically the 80s were just stuff like Boy George, Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi.
>>
>>63842929
>Implying 70's weren't the best decade
PLEB ALERT.
>>
>>63843842
The only good 80s shit I can think of is some hardcore punk, no wave and post-hardcore

Care to prove me wrong?
>>
>>63843393
>Nirvana
>Balls
This is where we're at now, folks, Nirvana is considered ballsy. No wonder all rock is so castrated nowadays.
>>
>>63843842
I bet the only 80's bands you listen to are generic new-wave and goth bands. You know, Bauhaus, New Order, Talking Heads, Devo, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure, the list goes on...
>>
>>63843986
cool it bruv

i said their influence anyway. it definitely paved the way for a lot of louder, rawer stuff on the indie scene
>>
60s > 80s > 10s (so far) ≥ 00s = 70s > (POWER GAP) > 90s

Goddamn the 90s were shit
Only rap and a minority of alt-rock was good at the time
Everything else was shit

Dunno about my rating on the 70s though only listened to a handful of songs and albums from that era and loved many of them
Reccomend me good 70s shit my opinion might change about it
>>
Simply calling something generic doesn't make it generic. It's like when people on thisa board think their pre-conceived opinions about a piece of music are validated because they say its "boring".
>>
>>63842929
60s = 70s = 80s = 90s = 00s
>>
>>63844084
>The Stooges- Raw Power
>Joy Division- Unknown Pleasures
>The Clash- London Calling
>The Ramones- Rocket To Russia
>Devo- Are We Not Men
>Wire- Pink Flag
>Television- Marquee Moon
>Pink Floyd- The Wall
>T. Rex- Electric Warrior
The list goes on. The 70's were awesome.
>>
>>63844251
The 70s was the best decade but good lord these are the worst picks I've ever seen for that decade
>>
>>63844251

I already listened to some of that might try the ones I missed

Learn to recommend good music when someone asks for it, shitface.
>>
>>63844465
might try these also
>>
>>63844465
boring entry level fedoracore ahoy

(srsly tho there are some good albums in there but you are such a walking cliche)
>>
>>63844465
>all dat fucking prog
>miles davis
wew lad that's a lot of wankery
>>
>>63844520
Better than fucking Joy Division that's for sure.
>>63844556
I'd rather "wankery" over kick snare kick snare

And the Wall is basically 100% wankery anyways so it's fair game
>>
>>63844597
>Basically 100% wankery
I kinda hate Pink Floyd, but The Wall and Piper are two of their more fun, less wanky albums.
>>
>>63844643
The Wall is one of their fucking worst albums. Anything after Animals is trite shit.
PATGOD is a good record though
>>
>>63844465
This list >>63844251 was better. Sorry, but prog has aged like shit and punk is a lot more fun.
>>
60s>70s>90s>00s>80s
Fight me
>>
>>63844669
Stop samefagging, thank you
And stick to your shitty redditcore
>>
>>63843979
>The only good 80s shit I can think of is some hardcore punk, no wave and post-hardcore
>Care to prove me wrong?

The 80s were a great decade for many other genres and styles:
metal
neo-folk
post-punk
synth-pop
gothic rock
deathrock
psychobilly
darkwave
C86/Sarah Records/Postcard Records style indie/twee pop
dream pop
californian trance/tribal scene (Savage Republic, Red Temple Spirit, Drowning Pool)
industrial
golden age hip hop
SST and Touch&Go style noise-rock
Paisley Underground
birth of many electronic genres (house, techno, electro...)
proto-shoegaze (Spacemen 3, Jesus & Mary Chain...)

>>63843994

You wish.
>>
>>63844847
>metal
I hoenstly hate 80s meyal
>neofolk
Care to show me some?
>post-punk
Alright I'll admit I forgot about that one
>synthpop
bleh
>gothic rock
>deathrock
bleh
>psychobilly
Meh
>darkwave
I like some of it but it's not really my thing
>twee pop
No thanks
>trance
Not big on this either
>industrial
I'm too entry level in this to make a judgement
>hiphop
Meh
>albini noise rock
I sort of mentioned that under Post-hardcore but ok
>paisley
Need to check this out
>electronic and proto-shoegaze
Not big on these either

Recommend me music based on what I namedropped in my 70s recommendations here >>63844465?
>>
>>63844923
>I hoenstly hate 80s meyal

All of it? There were a fuckload of different styles (NWOBHM, thrash, speed, death, grind, early black-metal, industrial metal, funk metal, crossover...)

>Care to show me some?

Current 93, Coil, Death in June, Sol Invictus...
They are often discussed on /mu/.

>Recommend me music based on what I namedropped in my 70s recommendations

I can't think of many good prog-influenced bands of the 80s. Try these instead (mostly psychedelic):

The Dream Syndicate - The days of wine and roses + Medicine show
Thin White Rope - Exploring the axis + Sack full of silver
Green on Red - Gravity Talks
Rain Parade - Emergency third rail power trip
Opal - Happy nightmare baby
Robyn Hitchcock - Black snake diamond role + I often dream of trains + Fegmania
Julian Cope - World shut your mouth + Fried
>>
>>63845500
I'm not big on NWOBHM, thrash, speed, early death metal, or early black metal. I much prefer the developed versions in the 90s of the latter two genres.

I've heard of Current 93 and Death in June but not Sol Invictus. Should give them a listen sometime

I'll check those albums out, thanks
