I know you think the pic is unrelated, but for me, the pic felt very related

Yes. My dad and his friends were really into prog rock. He introduced me to the Canterbury scene (Caravan, Gong, Soft Machine, etc.), King Crimson, Yes, Camel and many more. I'm truly grateful for everything he's taught me about music.

My dad introduced me to a lot of musicians- the strokes, velvet underground, beefheart, dead kennedies, joy division and new order, Lou reed, talking heads, Bob dylan , etc so I've been listening to a lot of that from a young age. I still feel like I developed my own unique music taste separate from my fathers taste though, even though he's always showing me music haha. My dad's a funny guy :^)
Yep my dad is full on patrician.
Listens to Scaruffi core but doesn't know who Scaruffi is.
Still listens to new music.
Also manages to appreciate more obscure music while also staying in touch with Oasis other dadcore.
Also original pressing of Tago Mago and Neu!

He only listens to pitchfork's top albums now
my dad used to listen to Limp Bizkit's Break Stuff on repeat while beating me. I tried to explain that the stuff that was to be broken was meant to be inanimate objects, but then i realised, that's exactly what i was to him.

My dad likes dadrock (U2, The Jam, Beatles, The Police, ELO) but he also introduced me to Pre-dookie Green Day, Radiohead, Black Flag, James Brown, Suicidal Tendancies, Stereolab, the good Steely Dan, and the Ramones. So pretty good Dad taste.

Yes. Mine is a huge fan of ECM records and I grew up listening to those.
First thing he did when I was born and got home for the first time was to put me in a crib and make me listen to Taking tiger mountain by surprise.
>pic related are the albums he's got hanging at his place
>>63802131
my dad played Eno when i was young as well, mostly his more obscure stuff like Wrong Way Up or Another Day On Earth
also it's by strategy

My dad has been in several prog bands over the years. He introduced me to King Crimson and Gentle Giant, which was what got me into music!
>>63802475
Any of his bands record anything?
>>63801206
my dad introduced me to talking heads, radiohead and many more albums. he has god tier taste. i sometimes recognize some album covers on /mu/ from his album collection. and he has no idea how "advanced" his taste in music is (i know, it's a very pretentious word)
>>63801507
Aw man :(
>>63801206
My dad introduced me to Yes/Genesis/King Crimson as well as The Talking Heads, Peter Gabriel, and Kate Bush.
So yeah, I consider myself pretty lucky in retrospect.
