It's typical dadcore, but it's one of the album that made dadcore a thing

>>63792870
the individual songs aren't mind blowing but the whole album fits 90's black NYC into an hour of music perfectly. it's rugged but it's not over the top
>>
>>63792807
Unknown Pleasures along with Closer are important albums because of their influence. I grew up with that album so it means a lot to me personally as it really shape my taste in music, but it's totally understandable why some people might not like it.
At the time that Unknown Pleasures was released, nothing like it was really heard before that. Then you have these funky brits driving a post-punk/new wave/dark wave vibe into the lime light with revolutionary production that captures an aesthetic and mood so intimate that it stood out.
Looking from another person's point of view, it probably does seem pretty mediocre when compared to the alternative explosion we had in the '80s, '90s, and onward...

Well, it is a pretty fucking good album, like much of Muse's catalogue. Try again.

they're good but it's way better altogether

The production on this record is insane. It's hip hop's Pet Sounds. It was overly ambitious and made during an interesting time in the artist's lives. This is an apology to the public from Kanye West and the manifestation of the rock star lifestyle. Pet Sounds dealt with themes of inadquecny, love and life, MBDTF has themes about being abrasive, narcissistic, hypocritical and apologetic. It also showed how hip hop could be artful to the mainstream.

I hate every single song where Kim sings
>come on down the store, you can buy some more more more
>I took a look into the hate, it made me feel very up to date

It's like a 7 year old wrote these. The instrumentation is not bad, just drags a bit. Some songs shouldn't be 7 minutes long
>>
>>63793859
Sister is the better album. Just take off Master-dik because it's a shitty bonus track added to the tracklisting in the CD release and it practically ruins the album.

People who listen to sonic youth should start with EVOL, not Daydream Nation. Also it doesn't help that they've been copied by a lot of bands. Also there's an underlying pseudo-concept running through daydream nation about a futuristic cityscape. It's not enough to be an actual concept.

I don't understand why people DON'T Like this album. It's one of my favorite albums of 2013.

The Lana album is just ok.
>>
>>63792771
It's upbeat, a little bit weird and has I'm afraid of Americans on it. It's not his best but it's not bad at all.
>>63792856
Has some of their biggest most anthemic songs on it, and the production is smooth as tits.

>Paramore
>impying they have any substance to "get" whatsoever
kek my dude

>>63795213
It's a great album. The production is top-notch, the singing dos its job perfectly. It is catchy, psychedelic, a little ethereal and over the top dreamy.
>>
>>63795406
I just think the effects on the vocals were really obnoxious and took away from the vibe of the production. I enjoyed a few tracks like Summertime Girls but as a whole I just felt the project fell flat. STGSTV will always be far superior to everything else they've done for me
>>
>>63795541
STGSTV is actual GOAT, but there's no need to draw comparison between the two works. They're entirely different in substance and in execution.

Maybe you were expecting something similar to STGSTV? This is much more poppy and accessible, but that doesn't take away the quality.
>>
>>63795641
Nah I mean I've heard their whole discography, I wasn't trying to compare the two, I was just saying they can never impress me like STGSTV again.

I get that it's their commercial success album and a lot poppier, I just can't into it. It was a little too layered and messy on top of my vocal complaint earlier which is what really ruined the record for me.

I also can't fucking stand Sung Tongs(again, not comparing the two) but ST has some of the most obnoxious vocals I've ever heard

ok mane. To each one its own. I actually find the layered sound really appealing, and the In the Flowers + My Girls combo is fucking amazing.
>>
>>63795764
Wow really? Sung Tongs has got to be one of my favorites.

For me Freak Folk/ Psychedelic folk are two genres that rarely ever get done well but Sung Tongs is the pinnacle of them

Nas is the first rapper with multi syllable rhymes, nobody flows like Nas before Illmatic - everybody flows like Nas after Illmatic. Lines like
>I woke up early on my born day; I'm 20, it's a blessing The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm fresh and
were mind blowing in '94. The album is also a good lenght and completely lacks filler.
>>
>>63795845
It's a more sensitive side to Atlanta trap. To me he sounds like a little kid who just happened to end up a rapper and is saying the things everyone else is, but is actually just an innocent kid trying to fit in. I completely understand disliking it because of the sound, but it's the emotion that makes me like it.
>>
>>63795883
they made music before i was born ??
>>
>>63795909
This is the album that made anco "click" for me, and suddenly made me feel insane amounts of emotions. Avey's voice changing from high to low to screaming is timed so well with the weird-ass sounds that it becomes more of an experience than a collection of songs. The appeal probably comes mostly from the thematic focus on childhood (ie the music itself mimicking the erratic excitement you experience as a child. the lyrics are mostly gibberish)

You're right though OP. Everyone's going to try and justify liking this because "it's catchy" when it's just standard plebshit. The "Kanye is good" meme needs to die.
