Judging solely on how much you enjoyed the music they wrote, which band member is your favorite and why?

Roger Waters, easily.
I can relate to his sarcasm and simply-put-yet-captivating lyrics. He's got a dry delivery and catchy rock tunes. Also, as much as Gilmour was a good guitarist and singer, without Waters' lead, he lacks any sort of focus (compare solo albums - Gilmour's Island to Waters' Amused to Death)
The other band members were largely irrelevant with exception of a couple of hit songs (like Wright on Gig in the Sky)
For me it's hard to choose between Syd Barrett's fantastical psych-rock and Roger Waters' sexy sarcastic art rock, especially when considering Syd's solo work, which I also love.

It's hard to say, as my favorites (AHM, Meddle) stem from that period between "leaders". I couldn't say for sure who the main songwriters were for Echoes or the AHM Suite.
If I were forced to choose an actual obvious "this person wrote it" period or song, I'd also go with Roger Waters. Although the whininess got tiresome after a while, it's still miles better than David "Elevator Music" Gilmour.

Roger is great as a musician but his lyrical themes tend to bore me and get repetitive fast.
Syd still manages to surprise me and keep me interested every time I relisten to one of his albums.
The rest of the band mates are pretty nonexistent imo.
Gilmour
Waters.
He may be one of the best lyricists in all of rock.
I like Syds stuff too.
Gilmour is a great guitarist but a poor songwriter.
Roger was best at writing lyrics, David was best at playing guitar, and Syd was best at writing songs.

Dave Mason produced Rock Bottom which is vastly superior in every way to anything Floyd ever did
