ITT: Albums that, when you seem them rated highly by someone, you know that you can instantly disregard any thoughts they have

I don't understand the appeal of this album. Can somebody please explain?
>>63790358
Poseur garbage. People pretend to like it because "muh mysterious Japanese avant-garde" even when the music is just simple guitar riffs that literally anyone with a shitty amp could recreate. If this were made by someone who speaks English, it would be rated a 3 at best by most people.
when i open 5 stars nad its just can bjork beach boys eTC
GYBE, not because I dislike them, but because people who give them 5 stars are always the worst people
any RYM babies that have Japanese flute music 1929-1952 and shit like that as their only 5 star record.
>>63790395
I mean, the fact that it was recorded in 1977 alone is a reason why a lot of people like it.
LRD also influenced essentially every J-psych band in some form or fashion to this day. Fushitsusha, High-Rise, Mainliner, Shizuka etc. etc. etc., which in turn influenced western acts such as Sonic Youth.
Basically, they're incredibly influential, and their sound is very unique for the time in which it was recorded.
I think it sounds good, too.

Merriweather Post Pavilion, In the Aeroplane over the Sea, Arcade Fire's Funeral.
>>63790457
kek
>>63790395
why do you assume that everybody pretends to like it for the reasons you mentioned
>>63790480
All of those are also bands I would look down on people for liking.
>>63790502
Right, and I now know you're just looking for reaction. Jesus, at least attempt some subtlety next try.
>>63790500
because he spends so much time obsessing about his image that he can no longer relate to people liking music genuinely
>>63790502

This is Loveless for people who enjoy dissonance and actual noise.
-That MSI album with the green girl on the front
-The Snowing one with the upside down car
-That St. Vincent/ David Byrne collab
-Any shoegaze album that isn't Loveless
-That Jethro Tull album with the pedophile on the front
-The Dizzee Rascal album with all yellow on it and he's just sat there
-Any album made by Deadmau5 after Random Album Title
-To Pimp a Butterfly
-any album by pointless, dreary, lowest-common-denominator pop rock acts such as Weezer, Muse or Radiohead
-Anything by any Japanese, French or Canadian acts

ITB: Threads that, when you see their stupid opening comment, you know you can instantly disregard any reply under it.
>>63790540
Okay, maybe not Sonic Youth. But I know for certain half the RYM babies wouldn't like their """obscure""" Japanese noise rock if were produced in England with English vocals.
>>63790572
>anything by any japanese, french, or canadian acts
why even post this
>>63790395
It's not about being complex. This album's quality lies in it's repetitious growing noise and chaos, taking the sound of the velvets to extremes that are only achieved on live recordings of sister Ray. It's noisy, heavy, and surprisingly catchy
>>63790591
he's a buttmad americunt who spends 90% of his time feeling culturally threatened and inferior. and for good reason, too.
>>63790586
bullshit. Take Parson Sound for example. You don't hear it often on /mu/ but they're worshipped on RYM. Very similar to the Japanese bands only from Sweden.
Maybe people like Jap noise rock because it's legitimately worth listening to?

Also, I don't think some people realize the tremendous amount of volume and feedback LRD were playing with, harnessing that, and making something completely unique for the time is a feat in itself.
>>63790853
these, if any of these shit albums is above 3 stars in someone's rym you immediately can tell that person know shit

Just like your existence.
>>63791094
Literally has over 4k RYM reviews. It's RYM poseurcore for sure. In fact, it was voted number one by RYM users themselves as "albums I'd like if I were a shameless hipster"
>>63790853
Wow, look at all those great albums! Thanks for the recs!
Anyone who has shitty smarties ranked highly is subhuman

Speaking of this, does anybody have some old CLT chart that used to spammed around here (circa 2012-2013)? I remember first listening to Os Mutantes because of that, which was pretty cool.
Typical trash /mu/ thread right here. All of you should end your live. Yes I'm fucking buttblasted fuck you you fucking dirty shitstain gerber babies.
