Shameless self bump. You can post any classical (vocal or non vocal) and discuss.
Riddle me this, guys. I'm about to listen to this two-hour analysis of Grosse Fuge,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE98vcGZre4&ab_channel=RyanMilton
and about two minutes in the guy says it's a double fugue.
Am I just fucking stupid in understanding the piece as a triple fugue? There are three clearly repeated and developed themes, all stated at the beginning (although the third isn't developed until later).
Who is your operafu /mu/

Is that second one actually a fugue?
Regardless, really good stuff.
What do you guys think of Henryk Gorecki?
Also, have any of you guys heard pic-related or is this not the right place to talk about contemporary avant-garde stuff?

I've been really enjoying Symphony No. 3. I've seen quite a bit of hate for him, but most of it doesn't really have any reasoning and is it just calling him overrated...
>>63772463
it's a bit too simplistic for my tastes. you probably would like arvo part - fratres. maybe schnittke's concerto grosso if you're feeling adventurous
Dumb question, sorry: Is it still monophonic chant if the voices are singing in octaves?
>>63772289
this have an interpretive score? love those
Can anyone recommend other good composers of contemporary choral?
