ITT: Times you feel Pitchfork underscored or overs cored an album, and what you'd personally give it.

>P4k: 9.3
>me: 8.4
>>
>>63766155
Yeah you're right P4k should have given that album a 9.7 for sure
Stupid p4k
>>
agreed
>>
>>63766155
Should have given it a perfect 10
>>
>>63766185
Hey man, not saying anything is wrong or right. There's plenty of shit I agree with them on. Just tryna spark some open discussions revolving around the subjective nature of opinions on music.
>>
>P4k: 9.0
>me: 5.8
>>
>>63766240
Honestly that album only got the high score it got due to white guilt and p4k eating into the whole hyped up "Kanye is great" crap that we are tirelessly fed through kids on Twitter. They're blind to the inconsistency, and it's messiness. The whole thing was a corny mess yet is probably going to too many AOTY lists. Fair enough, each to their own - but it's TLOP has to be Kanye's worst so far.
>>
>>63766204
Alright why do you think this album deserves a lower score. Honestly thought it deserved a 9. I'll admit it had to grow on me tho. But that's on me.
>>
Why the fuck do you give that site so much credit
>>
>>63766326
I just finished it for probably the 6th or 7th time today, and I really do enjoy it, however, some of the tracks just kind of blend into one another and don't stand out like "Let it Happen" "The Less I Know the Better" and that final track. It's not that I have anything against any of the other songs, they just seem kind of same-sounding sometimes. I also think some of the filler tracks on the album hurt its consistency, and finally, I generally don't care for "Past Life." It's not even the production that sounds homogenized, it's the vocals. The production, otherwise, is fantastic and has all kinds of studio trickery that fucks with your ears in really neat, psychedelic ways.

>>63766296
Yeah, the rest of his discography is wayyyy better than this. Don't get me wrong, TLOP had its highlights, but over all it was so disorganized, messy, and a lot of cuts felt, idk, incomplete and rushed? AnD P4k tried to pass it off that the hastily-made quality of the album and its inconsistency is what "makes it exciting." I smell excuses to justify another high score Kanye album. Still have hopes in the future for him tho.
>>
>>63766155
>8.4

more 4.8
>>
>>63766400
I don't, I just use it as a way to find new albums, really. I come out of all of them with my own thoughts.
>>
>P4k: 9.3

>>63766400
Are you dumb? Did you miss the entire point of this thread?
>>63766435
I can understand why some people see why the tracks blend into one another, but you see that's what I sort of enjoy. It sounds like one big fever dream to me. One big drug trip. The production, I agree...just blew my expectations for Tame Impala out the water. I found it super refreshing. I personally loved Past Life, that song bangs, along with the end track. But there were certainly some filler tracks that annoyed me, I think it was one of the tracks towards the end, I forgot which one now. It's just they didn't necessarily stick out like a sore thumb for me or change my opinion on the record. Also, it's just that at the end of the album I felt really happy and refreshed. It's totally an 9 for me, for once I agree with p4k, but I can understand why you think what you did.
>>
>>63766660
I can see that, most definitely. Yeah, the filler moments just felt like incomplete song ideas. Overall, I really like the album tho
>>
>>63766155
Should have been 9.2.
.1 arbitrary music points less.

>Me: The fact that so many books still name the Beatles "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics are still blinded by commercial success: the Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers. No wonder they will think that the Beatles did anything worth of being saved.

>p4k: 9.1

Literally what
This album deserves a solid 8.0 on the strength of Sleeping Ute and Yet Again, the rest of it is boring
>>
>>63766660

I like Past Life as well

Bjork : Vespertine. Although a personal perfect album, on an objective scale, at least an 8.5/9.0. Pitchfork fucked up on that one.

Also, they gave Homogenic a 9.9. Just give it a fucking 10. that album truly deserves it.
>>
>>63766240
It's a 2/10
>>
>>63771922
Nah, 9.1 sounds about right. Pitchfork got it right for once.

>>
>>63771922
Yeah I can see why they would give it an 9.1 but an 8.5 is little more accurate. It was a solid album from them.
>>
>>63766155
8.7
Highs outshine the lows
More pop and it worked
>>63766240
5.6
Holy shit the middle of the album was terrible
Salvaged by the last tracks
>>63766536
9.4
It's rare to see this kind of albums I really loved it
It has lows and that kept the album becoming perfect
>Grandma washing her niglet's ass
>>63769021

Grimmeth's best album yet

I'd actually re-rate every album they've ever reviewed because a 100 point scale is the most pretentious and retarded idea I've ever seen.

2/10
>Me
8/10
>>
>>63779574
1000 points is the way to go
>>
>>63779574
honestly, 2 point scale would cut it. Is it good or not? if not i throw it out, if its good ill keep it
>>
>>63774825
>they pretty much nailed the score for this
Yeah senpai I like the album a lot and I still have hope for them but it's definitely their most boring one by far

If they were going to strip away all the effects and shit then they should have at least made the underlying instrumentation and synths interesting
>>
>>63779574
>highest rated is a Beatles album

What a disgrace you are
>>
>>63766326
>>63766197

???????
anything over a 7 is pretty much the same as far as im concerned

and p4k is just a vessel for normal people who want to write album reviews
>>
>>63774376
I'm a huge anco stan and I'd probably give this an 8-8.6
