Great album. Better than their first one. I'm surprised how much I like it, because I've never been into Slint. I don't know if you're more of a punk fan or a noise rock / Slint / Albini-core fan, but if you like punk check out Accidente - Pulso (which is free on the artist's bandcamp)
>runner up
Clara Iannotta - A Failed Entertainment

This basically sums up my taste: albini core, post hardcore, noise, punk/hardcore, math rock, post rock. Will check it out, this year really caters to my taste. For me personally this year has 2015 already beaten. Kiran leonards grapefruit is pretty damn great as well. This is probably the best year in a long time if you have a taste like mine

Lover of all those genres-guy here, any recs in the Albini-core department? I've never heard the term but I'm starved for more.
>>63760721
everything that was either produced or played by steve albini:
the ex - dizzy spell
dirty three - ocean songs
shellac - at action park
slint - tweez
the jesus lizard - goat
big black - atomizer
rapeman - 2 nuns and a packmule
>>63760831
forgot to say big black - atomizer is my fav. Big blacks other great album is songs about fucking. If you are a fan of noise I guess you know these already
>>63760831
Heyooo, just realized that Cloud Nothing's "Attack on Memory" was produced by Albini. Cool, that album is the tits.
Seems pointless to post here because /mu/ hates 3rd wave Post-Rock, but this my AOTY so far.
Runner up:
Bones - Useless
rec me + pls

Untitled is alright
>>63760906

Ramriddlz - Venis
>>63760979
I will check it out simply because the cover looks rad as fuck
>>63761001
don't waste ur time, its garbage
POST POP DEPRESSION
>>63761016
genre? If it is rock I will give it a try unless its pop punk or some sort of metal that isnt doom
>>63761034
Some sludge/grind/drone(?) and a bit of noise
>>63761059
sounds pretty good. I rarely listen to an album of these genres that I dislike
>>63760074
to be honest I liked 18 Hours Of Static a lot more than this release but it's still quite outstandable, Big Ups are ambitious
>>63761415
fuck this title is weirding me out I always mix it up with the band 65 days of static
>>63760915
Take out spirit phone and I pretty much agree with your top 4. Really nice.
Probably this so far pretty underwhelming year so far.
>tfw new the field was meh
likin Human Performance
return to form, yet shows growth
still holding out on Radiohead though. i have a good feeling about LP9
Watch The Stove is better than most things I've heard this year.
>>63761938

Blackstar easily my aotysf

I'm listening to BAMU right now and I saw Kiran Leonard in concert yesterday. We talked about Swans, Boredoms, Oneohtrix Point Never and Panda Bear.
For me, the album which I've been revisiting most this year has been She's Beautiful - OK (pic related). It's highly emotional noisy electronic pop and for some reason it clicks with me. Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest has bought it, which is pretty cool.
>>63762552
how is he like? Does he browes rym or /mu/?
>>63762659
Kiran you mean? He's a fucking chill guy, very friendly. I know he's used last.fm for at least six, seven years and so he's definitely been active on online music communities. He ended up listening to relatively obscure music because his family is musical and his brother had cool taste.
deftones - Gore
>>63760074
This blew me away
>tfw I've only listened to 4 albums from 2016
>>63763384
please keep up
>>63763316
Genre?
>>63762552
to be fair your trip is actually pretty good
>>63760915
It seems like you developed your taste within the past 2 months. Just listen to more music
>>63763686
Thank you, but what exactly do you mean by my trip being good?
>>63763523
Atmospheric sludge metal with female vocals

My AOTYSF, although I haven't heard a ton from this year. Big Ups had some good songs but was a little too derivative for me.
>>63760915
Check out Denzel Curry - Imperial, Open Mike Eagle - Hella Personal Film Festival, and Babyfather - BBF
>>63761071

what did you think of the new EiTS?
Something about her that I really like. Teen Suicide might end up being my favorite, though.
