There is a reason that portable turntables NEVER caught on big time, whereas portable cassette, CD, and mp3/pmp devices did.
Vinyl is not a portable thing. Even if you make it "portable", it still going to need to be as large as a small suitcase and cannot be bumped or moved while playing. It'd also be heavy and expensive.
Just use a portable CD player or PMP.
