nice chart james
have you listened to the shadow ring
>>
>>63749074
most of his albums are about equally good, so you might as well go in order. although ready for the house is maybe more amateurish and less realized than the other early ones even if they have the same sound on the surface. something like lost cause, on the way, follow your footsteps, or you walk alone would be more traditionally rock n roll sounding and maybe more "accessible," but maybe that's not the point. the ones on the chart are the ones I recommend in any case. even though I'm sick of Later On right now. really no "how" to getting into any artist other than history and affinity
>>
>>63749108
yeah I have checked out a few of those albums - Ambient 1 and 4 and Discreet Music, Before and After Science.... I think Ambient 4 is the only one that has done much for me

I do really enjoy Here Come the Warm Jets and that also should be on my fucking chart =(

damn, James is my actual name too so that spooked me a little at first. but thanks, I like some of the music on your chart too. And yeah, I like the shadow ring quite a lot. I'd recommend you the same thing I recommended OP (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4AQ3GEeTVc) or Morton Feldman's music (Three Voices is trippy, but "The Early Years" collection of piano music or Neither might be more representative, maybe better too)

this piano concerto is pretty insane, will definitely check this out soon

feldman's been on my radar for a while now i guess but a lot of his works seem pretty formidable length-wise, so i haven't approached anything yet. i'll look at the works you mentioned first
>>
>>63749259
they're all relatively short, album lengthed at longest. imo his super long works are fairly overrated and sound like him but don't have much unique taste beyond that... maybe based on and praised for concept rather than music, but it could just be me too.

ah mate, uk garage parties sound so sick, closest thing we have to those in aus are doofs, good fun too. that sounds like a hectic situation. couple nights ago I found myself in the australian bush at a doof, 4AM immensely baked with loveless on speakers around a fire with my mate and some older hippy guys, one of them was having an axiety attack on mdma, was flirting with me while holding a saw in his hand that he used to angrily kill a branch, interesting experience

living in melbourne, this was up in the grampians, this vast bush area 4 hours north, was in a climbing commune. probably the group of people most receptive to mbv I have ever found. melbourne is great, just moved here, going to a shoegaze and psychedelic festival next week that has visual art at the same time, so psyched
