500 copies is around 1000 + side costs.
Smaller runs means higher price per copy, so assuming a realistic price increase by a factor 2 for a fifth of the copies, we'd get 400 for a hundred copies. This is a very conservative estimate, btw.
Which would imply that the pressing cost per record is 4. Assuming the records are sold for 10, we have a markup of 150%, which is basically nothing, since this is just the plain production costs.
Those 150% have to cover everything else.
Pressing just a hundred is very stupid from a business standpoint.

Good business handling is about surviving. Just look on discogs and you'll see the heartbreaking reality.
There's hundreds of labels who only ever had a single tune out and that one tune is usually quite good.
