Yo friends. It's that time. Post setups, recent purchases, whatever suits your fancy.

Snagged pic related over the past few days. Everything but the Replacements single ran me up $16 but that shit was $12 (still a steal). Not included is a VG+ reissue of the Beatles - Red Album I snagged for $5.

What have you anons run into recently?

Hey I gotta question

I haven't been paying too much to the vinyl racks aside from key artists such as Davis, Coltrane, Adderley, Coleman, Hancock, etc. What are some artists albums that are ALWAYS in the racks that are worth getting? (talking used)

>>
>>63717119
i have plenty of money, i choose to not waste it.
if you collect vinyl you're underage.
>>
>>
>>63717179
Idk what any of that means, just go through all the records in the sections of music that you like until you find something. If a store you go to doesn't have a wide selection then find a new store
>>
>>63717144
Dunno. Discogs says a few hundred people have it so not incredibly rare, depending on your definition. I can't find any info on just how many of 'em are around but it was only pressed once. People are selling it for 25 on there so I was happy to find it for 12. I hope I can get a matching copy of Let It Be.

>>63717179
Depends on your taste. I like collecting what was once very commerical folk pop and the like, and that shit is fucking everywhere in bargain bins. I'm not that into jazz so I can't help you on that front.

sorry i meant jazz albums
>>
>>63717288
Ah in that case I have no idea, I barely know anything about jazz. If you're looking for anything in particular then check out discogs, they have pretty much anything and everything you could want :^)

>mfw /v/irgin yesterday who thinks vinyl was reintroduced to curb piracy because "vinyl is harder to rip than CDs"
>>
>>63717214
surely it falls to the person who spends the money to decide what constitutes a waste
>>
>>63717214
or they're adults who choose to spend their money on something they enjoy? stop being such a pissy pants about how other people live their lives, there are way bigger problems in the world brutha
>>
>>63717214

Why are you shitting up the thread with objectively wrong statements?
>>
I've seen people saying vinyl is inferior to digital and the only arguments for vinyl is nostalgia and perceived warmth it gives off.

I just like ripping my CDs and being able to losslessly encode them to flac or wav or ogg for media players.

I've thought of getting a table and a system, but my Turtle Beach headset sounds good enough.
>>
>>63718517
I don't care about warmth or any of that shit

I just like the ritual of preparing vinyl for play and maintaining it so it doesn't get fucked up, it's the little things that you don't really get by queuing a playlist, pretentious as that sounds It just makes music feel like something tangible again
>>
>>63718517
There's no difference in sound quality between a well-taken-care-of record and a cd or flac. The only difference would be in *mastering*; over time, producers started making music louder and louder (see: the Loudness War), so an original pressing of a 60s psych rock album would have much more dynamic range than a modern repressing that suffers from the Loudness War for example.

So basically old stuff tends to sound better on vinyl (but not always), and it's entirely due to the mastering rather than the format itself.

FAS came in today.

Still waiting for BoC......................... fuck my life
>>
>>63719041
I know that feel, I'm waiting for a few records from the UK and one from Australia :((
>>
>>63719408

I bought that Deathspell Omega LP directly from their Bandcamp, posted in France and it took less than two weeks to arrive.

I bought two Boards of Canada records on Bleep in fucking January. It doesn't have tracking, so I think the postal service here is holding my shit for whatever reason
>>
>>63719463
Maybe it hasn't shipped yet? Try contacting them and say it still hasn't arrived
>>
>>63718185
Haha I'm so glad I posted her pic I've seen it used a few times now
>>
>>63719698

It got an email a day after I bought saying it got dispatched.

This isn't the first time, though. Bought a record on Discogs from Austria and it took five months to come
>>
>>63717214
i dont even care if this is b8

>be me
>buy a record
>years pass
>want to sell it
>its doubled in value at least
wow what a waste. glad i just saved my money like a tool
>>
>>63718185

It's plausible, but then copy protection-free download codes wouldn't make sense

Got pic related for like $10. Not my pic, but the one I got is exactly the same. I had no idea this album even existed, I just thought it was a JD album I'd never heard of, but apparently it's a bootleg of an album they never officially released. Can anybody offer more insight?
