i think lots of people consider it a breath of fresh air compared to what they're usually used to listening to. It is a good album though, DG's most accessible.

The flow of the whole album
You don't have to like everything. If I met someone who liked every album that was regarded as a classic I'd think they were full of shit. The point is you listened to it. Maybe you'll come back to it one day and think it's brilliant. Maybe you won't. Doesn't matter.

Having listened to their discography multiple times over, I understand why people would have a problem with it. But I think once you get into their sound, it becomes very hard to imagine the vocalist sounding any other way.
The music is so abrasive and ugly that a clean delivery would only detract from the production. The fact that it is messy makes it feel genuine. So it isn't "supposed to sound bad" it's supposed to sound unrestrained and real.

even though i like The Money Store it's always been my least favorite DG record, i don't really get why it's considered their best album apart from Fantano giving it a 10.
It's still a good album but i really prefer the sound of NLDW, TPTB, even Government Plates and Exmilitary are better sonically and lyrically imo

I felt the same way for a long time (always thought NLDW was clearly better), but fairly recently the album "clicked" for me, and I started to see how the argument for a legit 10/10 could be made.
I think it's all about the sheer amount of hidden junk, noise, and samples that are woven through every track. The album really is its own sonic universe.
