Hey /mu/ I've been looking through all the charts and I noticed there's not one for Deathrock. Is there no deathrock fags on /mu/ at all? Anyways, I was thinking. We should make a chart for essential deathrock anybody wanna help?
pic related: Only theatre of Pain has to be on it somewhere (obviously).
why does he have to sound like a tranny when he sings
otherwise that's a good album
this too
things were better off without charts, so its best there isnt one at all
Rudimentary Peni and Alien Sex Fiend are essential
>>63696613
I actually like the way he sings but he stopped singing like that after this album
that album is awesome but I don't know much else about the genre what do you recommend
>>63696628
i agree but I have no idea how to make charts is there a website somewhere?
>>63696615
>>63696640
beat me to it
>>63696628
NOW I'M FEELING ZOMBIFIED
>>63696644
T.S.O.L (album posted above) and mighty sphincter also alien sex fiend and voodoo church
Raspberry Bulbs are essential modern Deathrock
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7t4P0tfqRM
this definitely
I could swear there was a chart that included a deathrock section that had like 5 albums listed (including yours) but I don't think I can find it or maybe it doesn't exist.
If you looked through the wiki then you probably seen pic related.

topsters.net
>>63696703
I agree with this chart but I hate sisters of mercy
>>63696715
Thing is certain ISPs (I know ATT for a fact, maybe only that) are blacklisted or something? Never could access it unless through a proxy

a lot of stuff from this link will work
>>63696703
>dawnrazor
noice
>>63696613
but his voice is the best part
>>63696732
Some Girls Wander By Mistake may have you change your mind just by only a little bit.
I believe it's a compilation of their early singles and they are more like Big Black (It's rumored, from what I've read, that Albini was influenced by the drum machine sound of theirs which I assume were from these songs) and more rock-n-roll than there studio-magic album releases. If you want to make the extra effort there are plenty of bootlegs out there that have a more raw/live/demo feel.
This is coming from someone that doesn't really prefer there spooky scooby-doo studio (though I haven't really fully digested their entire works) entries.
>>63696904
ive given them a million chances I just cant stand them
>>63696942
I'm not holding it against you but if a bunch of people unanimously want a certain Sisters of Mercy album on the chart I wouldn't try to deny them that out of bias. Just a friendly heads-up but I ain't gonna stop from doing it. Try keeping an eye on the poster count on the bottom right of the page to make sure it's not one retard spamming for the album.
Oh and watch out for the Siouxie shit-poster that will tell you she's not post-punk or whatever for some stupid reason. I'm not wellread in death rock and she might not have any works related in it but it's just a friendly heads-up.
Alien Sex Fiend
Lords of the New Church
Virgin Prunes
>>63697232
oh no ill put it on the chart because ik everyone else loves them
>>63697232
>>63697380
oh and I am very familiar with that particular shithead
Is 45 Grave considered Death Rock? I like 45 Grave.
>>63697232
>Oh and watch out for the Siouxie shit-poster that will tell you she's not post-punk or whatever for some stupid reason.
lol that dude fucks up every thread
>>63697459
Yes
>>63697459
yeah totally
>>63697469
I thought it was "Siouxsie's not Goth; she's Post Punk." Killed a lot of perfectly good goth threads.
Some The Soft Moon
https://youtu.be/jILV2bOemmg
>>63697380
Have you started making the chart yet?
>>63697561
I don't remember well, it's been a while since that's popped up. I've only seen two threads that it's actually happened and everyone in it were like "OH NO NOT YOU" so it seems to be a well known occurrence.
>>63697561
>Siouxsie's not Goth; she's Post Punk
that's the dude, fuck that guy.
>>63697637
I'm not versed in making charts can you or some other anon do it?
>>63697802
Yes.
Christian Death - Tales of Innocence
(from Atrocities)
https://youtu.be/bcohcmNXVf8
>>63697862
thanks anon put voodoo church's E.P "voo-doo church" on there
shadow project self titled album belongs on there
>>63697862
I would vote for this:
Lords of the New Church
Russian Roulette
https://youtu.be/q7QhZ3OLjYg
the flesh eaters - no questions asked
>>63698011
Essential borecore
Also this:
45 Grave - Evil

My personal favorite Alien Sex Fiend album
E.S.T. Trip to the Moon
https://youtu.be/Tqbwu02E0HU
>>63698287
give it another chance and listen to the lyrics
1919 - the complete collection
Rather essential on a Goth chart
>>63697862
i dont know if this is considered deathrock but its a pretty solid album
>>63698421
thats more gothic rock anon
Is there any good modern goth? All I find is abomnible cheesy shit like Blutengel.
The Soft Moon are the closest thing I can think of. More Post Punk revival.
All the good Goth was in the '80s...
>>63698548
some bands from the late 90s and early 2000s are okay but the 80s is where it's at
>>63698364
It's boring kick-snare-kick-snare power chord chugging mumble garbage for Tumblr kiddies. The lyrics are shitty "dood depression lmoa" garbage
>>63698643
true
First and Last and Always is where it's at for Sisters of Mercy. A lot of you prefer Floodland?
Marianne

Would prefer if you guys would post album art
>>63697561
>>63697771
maybe he's referencing this from Luther
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Tt-d8B7l-k
Cinema strange
>>63698822
Has to be.
I've pointed out in one of those ruined threads that the shitposting had to have been an inside joke or a reference from an outside source.
favorite deathrock band
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Xv-y9RPimE4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I can't sit by and watch a deathrock thread devoid of Rudi P
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9tvmT7jHjU
Since the chart is going to be also including Goth I would like to suggest Chameleons' Script of the Bridge and I will add a vote for Raspberry Bulbs (either Deformed Worship or Privacy)
>>63698944
No need to go out and copy-paste the embed code. Just the youtube link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv-y9RPimE4
>>63699049
I don't see The Chameleons as gothic.
>>63699070
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSFUJLKkzFs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9cN3VWokuM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGLOeQ3Y618
Granted it's only three songs as an example and the rest more of a "dream punk" but that's just my argument.
>>63699070
>>63699049
theyre not exactly goth I agree with this anon
>>63699102
they're an ethereal band not gothic or deathrock but ethereal does stem from post punk so idk
>>63699070
>>63699115
>>63699158
>they're not gothic they're post-punk :^)
Had to point that out, just shooting the shit.
It was a legitimate suggestion for the chart but I did see the questioning of it's addition a mile away considering this thread started as a Deathrock thread.
>>63699205
>it's addition
its addition
Oh and I'm also leaning on Raspberry Bulbs' Privacy now that I've thought about it.
>>63698548
I keep trying to like Chelsea Wolfe and Zola Jesus. I can almost get into the Savages. But I really haven't heard anything new or decent done with the music in a long time.
Modern would-be-goths like classical music too much.
>>63698674
I'm way more drawn to the early eps but First and Last it's pretty great too.
Rundgren's production on Floodlands is just ridiculous.
>>63699349
This HAS to be on it anon
>>63699349
Kind of need a Siouxsie album don't we?
>>63696689
link?
google gave me nothing
>>63699844
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IEHH2E3fjU
>>63698674
floodland is my favourite
>tfw pleb
OP here. Thread is basically kill. I will start another tomorrow with the last pic of the chart and to the anon who was making the chart pls look out for the next deathrock thread
>>63699349

What about some Birthday Party or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds?
>>63700172

>>63700118

>>63700234

I recommend Ausgang.
>>63699616

>>63698975
