What are some albums with the "wall of sound" production style besides this and pet sounds?
most neo-psychedelia
>>63692721
this album really isnt that incredible imo.
>>63692788
You're fucking wrong imo
Listen to more music then come back in three or four months
>>63692788
What about this album?
Funeral
Illinois
I don't think I'd consider Loveless wall of noise. It's really dense but it's only because of a lot of guitar effects.
Probably a good amount of hardcore punk desu.
Dead Kennedys, Black flag, Pig Destroyer. possibly.
Off the top of my head.
Jesu is probably a good bet.
>>63692788
It's really dated imo
>>63692849
I do agree, it takes some getting used to.
>>63692849
not even trying to make you mad. Can you please explain to me what you enjoy about Loveless?
>>63692864
gr8 butt smile is better
>>63692849
loveless is good butt if u put it on some kind off a pedestal than ur the 1 who needs 2listen2 more music lol
>>63692875
uh
1) there term is wall of sound as popularized by phil spector
2)there really aren't a lot of guitar effects, it's mostly in the tunings, tremolo arm, and one yahama spx 90 rack unit's reverse reverb
Am i the only one who didn't "get used" to this album? i listened to it once and immediately loved it
>>63692931
smile never truly came out and smile sessions is not how smile would have been in 66/67
albums as good or better than pet sounds: smiley smile, wild honey, friends, 20/20, sunflower, surf's up carl and the passions so tough, holland, pacific ocean blue, love you, brian wilson, that lucky old sun
>>63692978
Nope, to here knows when was the first time i hears anything noise pop/shoegaze related. I loved it first listen
>>63692978
no the first time i listened to it, it sounded very futuristic and dreamy and like it was made with synthesizers instead of guitars, i had heard nothing like it, i couldn't believe it came out in 1991, and i hated myself for judging the band by its name and associating it with totally different music
>>63692849
Hey, Bayar.
Im confused what exactly constitutes wall of sound? Imo i always thought stuff like yellow swans was wall of sound not pet sounds or neo psych
Burzum - Filosofem
Alcest - Souvenirs d'un autre monde
Alcest - Écailles de Lune
>>63692931
The Smile Sessions' production style is far removed from Spector's "wall of sound".
I'd say try All Things Must Pass by George Harrison. Songs like "Wah-Wah" remind me of shoegaze.

The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls with Sand
It's much heavier than Loveless, but is absolutely incredible.
>>63693053
Yah that's kind of silly. It referred to dense arrangements like those of Phil Spector productions. See the Back To Mono boxset. It's only a useful designation if referring to big poppy stuff with lots reverb. Otherwise you're lumping in Pet Sounds and Merzbow because they're big sonically.

Paysage d'Hiver - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2po7RH8o0A
>>63692978
Nope, this album clicked for me right away.
>>63692721
Literally any shoegaze
>>63692756
Like soft bulletin?
Rodan - Rusty
>>63693193
Wow these are great thanks.
>>63693178
Not him, but I'm still pretty confused. My knowledge of production is pretty limited.
>>63692721
Broken- Nin, Certain songs on the Downward Spiral
>>63693193
>Paysage d'Hiver
mah niggaa
>>63693061
because by smile brian was after a "white light" or "spiritual" sound somewhat influenced by rubber soul and wanted to make music people prayed to
also the beach boys did shoegaze-esque stuff before all things must pass

Loveless is the greatest album of all time.
>>63692721
I like it and its catchy and all, but I always wanted it to be a little more bass heavy and noisy. Every time I put it on I think it'll be something its not
>>63692978
Someone says this every time MBV is mentioned, like some strange bragging about absolutely nothing.
>>63692721
I just realized this is a picture of a guitar
>>63694536

Mana Mana - Totuus palaa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYmYmtaEm5Q

This album
Does anyone have a 320kbps or flac version of this album?
more like a blanket of sound
>>63697413
I love you
all encompasing drones my friends
>>63692978
The first time I listened to it I was half asleep and it was one of those deals were I got a glimpse into a whole nother world view. I like it for other reasons now, though.
>>63692887
It only sounds dated because of all the shit nugaze that tried copying them. "It sounds dated" is not a legitimate criticism.
>>63692978
How? How do you dismiss the opening of Only Shallow, listen to the album until you get bored and start over and then maybe dismiss the opening again until you "get it"?
This one is legit
