Is Robert Pollard God?
I thought he was a scientist

Yeah, essentially.
He is one musician I can honestly say it is a fucking crime that he isn't a household name.
For me he typifies that feeling when you have a solid concept or basis of a song but you just don’t have the concentration or strength to finish it off. Polish it to the point of a viable song. It’s like he doesn’t want to be criticised for art he has put everything into so has amassed a career making really good songs that no-one could feasibly argue were finished. He therefore gains some sort of immunity from criticism because he could argue 'well I don’t care enough about these songs to finish them properly so say what you want'.
is there a gbv chart? i have only listened to bee thousand

every GBV album(and EP) has at least a few all-time hits on it, they're all worth hearing
vampire on titus, under the bushes under the stars and the static airplane jive and fast japanese spin cycle EPs are personal favorites
Greatest concert of all time.

it's definitely the most consistent album they ever put out, though i love those weird bits and fragments and half-songs that are scattered throughout most of their albums
i was fucking obsessive with how much i listened to that album at one point in my life
