Slaid Cleaves - Broke Down
i didn't enjoy warlord nearly as much as lean's past projects honestly
>>63671194
you should listen to some old no limit stuff (master p, etc)
I really liked warlord tbqh, moreso than unknown memory.
>>63671275
>>63671275
i have heard a lot of older no limit albums, down south hustlers is a classic album, love Young Bleed's album as well
honestly i like to listen to no limit rappers more than cash money rappers because they're way more cartoonish and energetic but a lot of the beats sound too cheap for me
if they had fiend and mystikal rapping over mannie fresh beats i think my head would explode
egorp
>>63671371
the cheap beats are endearing, that's why I relaly like no limit.
mystikal on manny fresh beats.... HNGHHHHH
>>63671433
they are charming in a lot of cases, but my favorite no limit beats are the ones where they try and copy the mannie fresh-esque sound in just completely fucked up ways like on this track:

i forgot to mention this album but its another label favorite of mine

Im another poster, I am from new orleans and have tenuous relations to alot of the rappers from no limit and cash money. My family did a lot of design work for Birdman, family friends used to own grocery stores outside the magnolia projects, and my bestfriends childhood nigger mammy's cousin was mystikals baby mama lmao.

>This cassette presents the soundtrack to Professor Timothy Shortell’s short film, The Terrible Comet Salt (2000). The narrative is based on a short story by Paul Sheerbart written in 1902, (an early instance of German science-fiction literature). The story, stark and bizarre, is distinctly narrated by Darren Harris (The Shadow Ring). The accompanying music is performed by Idea Fire Company (Scott Foust & Karla Borecky) in collaboration with Anti-Natural ally BRRR (Timothy Shortell). A melancholic and plodding rhythm propels the piece, well-fitting the apocalyptic chronicle.
pretty neat. i actually never did research on this myself. i'm a big fan of the shadow ring. here are a couple of tracks if you are interested:

my favorite albums of theirs are i'm some songs and city lights, however i think their most essential albums are hold onto i.d. and lindus.
they provide a pretty interesting view of mundane daily life. like nichijou but less cute.

i've recently done a flip flop on my favorite death grips albums. for a while they had been government plates and niggas on the moon but after enough listens to all of them the initally mystery and wonder of those works faded and what bubbled to the top? no love deep web and the money store. they really are the meatiest death grips albums that very acutely express main death grips themes while sounding timeless.

Honestly my favourite DG album keeps on changing, the only album that hasn't been my favourite has to be Ex Military, after Culture Shock I really don't care for anything on Ex Military. Government Plates I think has some of Death Grips best stuff besides the latter half of the album. I honestly think Government Plates is my favourite DG album right now with No Love Deep Web just slightly behind it

his nardwuar interview is awesome, gives insight into how hard he had to work starting out. he has a ton of charisma and rappers like him, which is what matters when you make beats n shit
