I liked him a lot until I saw a taping of Dar Rheingold and the staging was so stupid it made me wish I had just kept listening to the recording I have

a totally anachronistic statement. (American) Musicologists have also tried to pin Beethoven's music as war-provoking by detaching the music for its actual social and historical context.

Thinking about seeing Tristan & Isolde nearby. Also just listened to the 1963 Hans Knapperbusch GOAT Parsifal recording, Havent really delved into Ring yet, but that's partly 'cause I feel like I'd need to go through the whole series at one time.
