How come no one gave any interest in this album whatsoever ? why is it so underrated ? 23 fucking years and it's not fucking legend ?
I really liked it, but if someone can clear things to me that'll be great.
becuase its shit. all it takes for an album to be skipped over and forgotten is terrible reviews. there are a few good tracks but the unbearable filler do not compliment them.
No idea. Personally, I loved it and the RSD single that came with it bodes well for their next album. This was their first album as a three piece with guests on bass and back-up vocals. But, hopefully, with Paz fully in the band and involved in the recording process, their next album with fair much better.
I'm pretty sure everyone loved wishing they would make another album, but never wanting them to actually do it, lest they be disappointed. And to anyone that mentions Kim or lack of Kim on this album, she was barely on writing or vocal duties on their last two albums. If you listen to all five main studio albums back-to-back, she just progressively disappears.

I wonder what it would've been like if Black Francis didn't have a successful solo career and came back just to record with the band again. He had some damn solid solo stuff that even Joey helped out and played on.

It only had like 2 or 3 good tracks.
A bunch of fanboy dorks who came of age jerking off to Kim deal and writing articles on the legacy of Doolittle were upset that both she was out of the band and that they dared to write new music at all. It's fine, and the tour following it without Kim was killer.

THIS. They grew up thinking the pixies were THE BEST ALT-ROCK BAND EVER, they had 23 fucking years to realise it was just a pop band yet failed to do so and complained about a perfectly decent album, not as good as pixies' earlier works but still an album worth its money

i'm a huge fan of anything pixies / frank black.
solo frank black is great, i guess he used to tour with the bassist from polaris ( saw polaris live over last summer it was fucking incredible, first time i saw a band live that sounded just like the album )

I imagine those interviews are just something they have to cope with and he likes bullshitting. Like, the feeling I get when the guy asked about the difference between Pixies and Frank Black songs is that they're all thinking "it's just the same" and then they just come up with some BS answer
