Why is this album considered meta modernism
>>63636222
Yeah dude
Have you given Jamey Johnson a listen?
I like alt country and cowpunk
Guys like Drive-By Truckers, Uncle Tupelo, Old 97s, Wilco, O' Death, Trampled By Turtles
Do you like any of this
>>63636239
It's referencing a Ray Charles album
>>63636239
The bandcamp description explains why.

I have not, but I'm still pretty new to country music. Will definitely add him to the list, if there are any stand-out songs by him feel free to post links

Alt-country is mostly what I've been listening to as well, along with neotraditional. I love Drive-By Truckers, the others I've mostly heard of but have yet to give a listen
>>63636647
I like this
>>63636752
Listen to The Flatlanders as well.
>>63636752
Uncle Tupelo is definitely worth looking into. All four of their albums are great.
Jason Molina and his work under Songs: Ohia and the Magnolia Electric Co. also made a lot of great alt-country and folk music.
>>63636752
And if you like Drive-By Truckers, pretty much all of Jason Isbell's solo work is pretty great.

they're more southern rock than country but uncle lucius is good

so is it just me not knowing about them or is there a severe lack of female artists in the alt/reddirt/texas country scene? I mean I'd love to see a modern version of a holly dunn or dolly parton, but it just seems like all the bands that have female leads even though they're labeled as alt country are more indie rock or dreampop
for anyone interested in exploring alt country, widipedia has a pretty comprehensive list of artists

anyone besides me still in this thread?
