Run The Jewels
Young Thug

When le wrong generation people of the future reference the 2010s, they will reference these acts.

This album will have a similar legacy to Madvilliany. Fans of hip hop will know most of Freddie Gibb's discography, while PiƱata will be considered a classic.

Doubt anyone will care in 20 years about her
>>63604097
>Kendrick Lamar
Maybe
>Drake
Probably
>Death Grips
No way. Will be forgotten in a few years.
>Run the Jewels
Why would they choose Run the Jewels over any other hip hop group?
>Young Thug
As much as I love Thugger, I doubt he'll remain relevant over the next few years.

no one's going to remember grimes faggot
she might be still making headlines on obscure music boards but will never get the mainstream appeal.

>>63603983
Grimes is awesome. Hopefully she will be popular 20 years later.
>>
>>63603983
Will be forgotten in max 5 years, trust me.

The bands she's greatly influenced from will remain forever though (MBV, Kraftwerk)

This. Their work in the mid-late 2000's is peerless, and people will remember that for years to come.

Hahaha Grimes. He really thinks people will like this in 20 years.
>>
>>63603983
To be honest I've listened to the entire discography of Grimes, including her first ep, and already today there's nothing concretely "memorable" aside her typical catchy tunes to use at parties. In substance all her popularity is due to commercial brands like Youtube, Facebook and internets boards like this one. In 20 years there will be so many new quirky pop chicks who will replace her that is hard to think she can be any relevant. Grimes is something extemporaneous, just something of the moment, like many others things in the actual indie scene.

The reality
>>
>>63611567
Grimes has enough personality to stand on her own. If she will be revevant 20 years later it depends on her next albums. If she release 2 more acclaimed albums her future is assured.
>>
>>63611743
Acting like retard is the personality you're talking about?
>>
If you with the dicks then you know.
>>
>>63612782
Being quirky =/= acting like a retard. When Aphex Twin acts weird he's a misunderstood genius, when Grimes acts weird she's a retard? Double standard much?
>>
>>63612868
I can't see this correlation between Aphex Twin and Grimes.
>>
>>63612947
It's clear. Two artists acting weird, one male, another female, but the female one is called "retard" by (ironcially enough) other retards on /mu/? This is too much.

>>
>>63613008
Well, Aphex Twin is highly influential and has critically been called so. Grimes hasn't influenced anybody, as far as we know, and most people on /mu/ believe her popularity is due to people being attracted to her. I will admit that being eccentric or crazy/retarded depends on the level of fame/respect someone has though.

>Grimes hasn't influenced anybody, as far as we know,
It's too soon, but give her more time

>I will admit that being eccentric or crazy/retarded depends on the level of fame/respect someone has though.
Grimes is very respected by many critics and people with good taste. It's undeniable.
>>
>foo fighters

>kendrick lamar maybe

People barely know her now.

Ariana Grande
Kendrick Lamar
Death Grips
Daft Punk
Muse
Radiohead
>>
It would be better if criteria is based on likelihood to put new album in future

as
Boards of Canada
GYBE
MBV
released album within 5 last years.

my bet is on these.

arcade fire
Sufjan Stevens

Same with My Bloody Valentine. And countless other critically acclaimed groups. What's your point?

there's no reason for a label to keep her back catalog in print, poptimist.
