Despite the impressive guitar work they were nothing more than another obnoxious hair-metal band, and I don't understand why they get so much more praise than the others of the scene.

The first two albums were the best ones. Pure, raw, kickass rock-and-roll. Also Eddie was never able to recreate that crisp guitar tone on VH 1-2 again. His tone got increasingly mucky as time went on.
Eddie was one of the best although Steve Vai and John Frusciante matched or exceeded him.
