Striborg makes the most bizarre atmospheric Black Metal but I love it. Xasthur comes close I guess.

Sounds nothing like Lesser Key, Deftones, Karnivool, etc?
>>
>>63535309
There is no other black metal album that sounds like this, not even Aesthetica

literally any no wave album

Okay, either you're deaf, or you've never listened to the bands I listed.

Listen to Karnivool and tell me Lateralus is unique. It even sounds the same as the other Tool albums.

Bad pick, BTBAM basically nick the scenecore sound and add a little DT style prog to it

True

The melo-metalcore kind, it's shit but BTBAM make something good out of it with their prog infusions

If you consider Protest The Hero to be "scenecore" then... maybe?
>>
>>63535497
They sound nothing like PTH though. And PTH aren't melo-metalcore either.

Basically BTBAM take the melo-metalcore sound, add DT style prog metal and voila, you have Colors
>>
>>63535516
I totally disagree. I think there are maybe two breakdowns in the entire album and I've listened to it 20+ times. There's nothing metalcore about it. They're much closer to PTH than DT on Colors, but I can hear influence from a different band on every riff of the album. No other band does what BTBAM did on Colors.

(not dissing gy!be, but 2/3 of post 2000s post-rock is a carbon copy of their style)

i'm with the other dude. as someone who's been searching for ages for something that sounds like GYBE, none of the bands I've found have hit the spot
Explosions in the sky, a silver mount zion, god is an astronaut, set fire to flames, etc, none sound like Godspeed
>>
>>63537226
>what is crescendocore
F#A# sure as hell isn't it, that's for sure. And neither is GYBE.
>>63537742
This. Nothing has come close to the melancholic and dark sound of F#A#. The only two I can think of that really compete are SFTB and Spiderland. And SFTF's two albums

Way to insult Deftones
>>
>>63537582
Strangely enough, this album reminds me a lot of Mastodon, even though it's a totally different genre.
>>
>>63535470
What genre would that be? Experimental rock? Blues rock?
>>
>>63535400
Doesn't even really belong to a genre imo.
>>
>>63537772
agreed that SFTB is the closest thing i've heard.
what's SFTF stand for? i may be having a mind blank

The only albums that compare are Phil's other works, but Mount Eerie is just a whole another level, man.
>>
>>63537831
Set Fire to Flames. I'd say that they do a pretty good job taking the field recordings on F#A# even further (not surprising because they're both by the same people)
>>
>>63535448

>>
>>63537031
No it isn't retard, there's very little prog about it. It lacks the jazz elements that are usually present in prog
>>
>>63537867
oh yeah they were in my post lmao

Set fire to flames sounds a lot like slow riot for zero kanada

Have you actually listened to anything by them? They sound nothing alike to Slow Riot

Their first album sounds very much like the first track for slow riot. Have you listened to anything by them? It has tons of ambient pieces and lofi recording value.

*sigh* what an album

I guess Fleurety's debut, that strange EP they did with Michael-Eide (I Left The Earth), Minas Tirith's The Art of Becoming and maybe Dodheimsgaard at their most crude and dissonant have a similar vibe, but yea, this album is truly unique and one of my favourites of all time.

I'll raise pic related (I guess other works by Hans Reichel sound similar, yes of course, but I mean, his sound is unique)
>>

I already said. Colors is a good album. But comparisons to other bands in the same genre can be drawn quite easily

the garbage that this album has got me listening to
i hear songs from the early 00's in the mall that i used to hate and start to lose my shit over how good they suddenly are

Pop-rock/emo

Obviously it's still the same formula for the most past but a combination of the vocals, lyrics, hooks and variety of the songs Max puts out really make them stand apart from anything in the genre. There's no other pop-rock/emo band that comes close to them imo
>>
>>63537910
Better but most of the album is in 4/4. It's just that the band uses excessive polyrhythms
>>
>>63538612

indeed, I haven't heard a single comedy album quite like it
