Anything on their first album. It's an easy 10/10.

Cheap Trick and Teenage Fanclub >>>>> Big Star
>>
>>63530607
This. Big Star is alright, and I get why people get the feels over them. But comon man, it's generic 70s rock. At least Cheap Trick did something off the beaten path.
>>
I like Didn't I Didn't I Didn't See You Crying

This. I was blown the fuck away when I listened to Cheap Trick for the first time last week. I always thought they were generic 70's rock (Big Star left that impression on me, although I still somewhat liked them) and was met with huge guitar tones, choruses and energy. The literal definition of power pop imo (seriously how did they make their guitars sound so modern in the 70's?)

my mother loved cheap trick in high school and she went to see them with kiss (whom she didnt like) in the late 70s. she said kiss was amazing and cheap trick was awful live

If youre talking about At Budokan, it's just good live production. They've always thrived on their live shows. One of the best live acts of all time.

Yeah I was talking about Budokan and the first album. That shit is insane.

I've seen them a few times in recent years. It's too bad they've been relegated to the casino circuit.
>>
>>63531001
And holy crap is he still in great shape. How come the rest of them look like grampas though?
>>
>>63531046
As far as their debut album goes, idk man. That shit was 14 years ahead of its time.

I didn't say it was bad. Paul McCartney, Sparks, and Bowie were doing better pop stuff in the early 70s than anyone else.

Eh. No.

Cheap Trick '97 is a great album that sadly, no one ever really seems to talk about.

What do y'all think of Heaven Tonight?

Their 2nd best studio album after their first

Cheap Trick > Heaven Tonight > In Color > Next Position Please > All Shook Up > One On One > Dream Police > the rest
>>
The first three studio albums are GOAT, and so is the Live at Budukan, but if I had to pick a favorite song, it would have to be a four way tie between The Ballad of Richard Speck, Ello Kiddies, Hello There Ladies and Gentlemen, and Downed. Listen to the first four albums and decide for yourself which is your favorite. That's the CLASSIC Cheap Trick era as far as I'm concerned, and I should know cos I actually live in Rockford.

True story: Rick Neilson was the first person to show me the Paris Hilton sex tape when it came out.
