Ive been listening to alot of Veil of Maya, especially their album Matriarch. I listened to alot of Old Escape the fate aswell. Matriarch is objectively their worst album.
The Common Man's Collapse and Id are the only ones worth listening to. Since you seem to like djent which is a genre that is 99.9% garbage, listen to Mastaden by Vildhjarta. They're really the only Meshuggah offshoot band anyone should bother with.

Also, just listen to fucking Meshuggah. Start off with Obzen, it's their most approachable and, in my opinion, on of their best. That faggot vocalist who replaced Veil of Maya's original frontman seems to be doing his best to copy Kidman's vocal style anyways, albeit with a metalcore inflection.

I do prefer Butler's vocals and I was pretty apprehensive about the vocals but I've listened to the album a fair amount and it hasn't yet put me off it. for example the song Mikasa is simply catchy and fun to listen to.
