His lyrics on this album are insane. All of the songs on here could have been on tpab and are easily better than how much a dollar cost and complexion.

I never understood why Complexion was on the album. IMO it's the only filler on the album (which is quite impressive consider it's 16 tracks). Rapsody's verse is very good but Kendrick's presence, while not bad, is pretty lackluster.
Disagree with HMADC though, I feel that song plays a huge role in the storyline of the album.

I forgot about the hook, very good hook. No problem with the hook. Like I said, it's mostly Kendrick's verses (plus the admittedly boring beat aside from the scratches) that bring down the track. He just doesn't seem to have a lot to say on that track, it all serves to build up to Rapsody's verse. I like it a lot, but it could've been cut or swapped and it wouldn't really affect the quality of the album is what I'm saying. It's a 7/10 in the midst of 9 and 10's.

Complexion is an important counterpart to The Blacker the Berry. TPAB works a lot with contrast. He goes from one extreme to another. I can see how people don't like the song as a standalone (I personally really like it, but I like every song on the album anyways) but its role in the album is important for Kendrick's ideas to work.

Yeah, to be honest I didn't like Complexion at first that much, but it reaaally grew on me. To be fair however I don't like all the songs from UU. Untitled 5 is my favorite, that first verse may be one of my favorite verses he ever wrote. Absolutely love the flow.
