with downloading mp3s from slsk you're much more likely to encounter its biggest disadvantage compared to what.cd, which is shitty quality audio. Not bitrate but often shit downloaded from soulseek has artifacts and other issues. Downloading flacs exclusively pretty much hides all of that from you.

Well just subjectively speaking I used to have a lot of noticeable problems with my soulseek downloads when I downloaded 320's. Stuff like stutters and scratches. Now that I've switched to flac only, I almost never have noticeable problems.
I think people that keep flacs around are less likely to tolerate shitty audio in general.
