I heard Sonic Youth was pretty good. I never listened to their stuff prior, and I want to try to get into them. What do you guys recommend?

Depends, if you have any taste for noise rock elements then I'd say start with Sister THEN Daydream Nation because while DN's where their songwriting matched their ambition, Sister's not far behind and is much less of a herculean listen at just over 40 minutes instead of almost 70 like DN. It's an easier way to determine if you like SY's schtick or not. If you're into more traditional rock stuff then start with Dirty and go backwards from there. I don't much like Dirty because it sounds too grungy for me but it's as good an entry point as you're gonna get for those more accustomed to less experimental rock. Either way work backwards from Sister after the matter, then after that do whatever the fuck you want.

You might like a couple of the later albums. Sonic Nurse immediately comes to mind as it's more or less a poppier DN. That said, I'm kind of surprised you didn't like Sister.

They did. DDN was already much more accessible than what they were doing before, and Teenage Riot is a hit single if I ever heard one. They simply continued on that trajectory. The vast majority of Goo is basically DDN part 2.
