Bass is not the same as guitar. It fills different musical space in pitch, does a different job and requires a different approach in general than a rhythm guitarist or lead guitarist.

I've actually written a lot of my own material and played many different styles and genres.
I can easily find chords in atypical tunings without actually knowing what they are.
