right? and honestly i don't find critics very reliable a lot of the time. sure, you have some lone wolf types who break away from the pack (lol christgau) but often times publications are just following the trends/zeitgeist and it all becomes a bit of an echo chamber - making it almost impossible for these publications to criticize certain artists (like radiohead at one point, or mpp-era anco, and we even see it a bit with kanye now).

whether an album is "critically acclaimed" or "overrated/underrated" never crosses my mind when i'm listening to and appraising an album and I don't know why /mu/ cares about it so much.
