Lately I've listening to pic related and Bobby Hutcherson's Dialogue a lot. Rec me some other jazz albums that feature a vibraphone or a marimba. Or both.

That's my favorite post-bop album anon
Good taste
I'd rec Modern Jazz Quartet

Pic related has some good vibes. Though it's more interesting for Scott LaFaro's performance imo.

If you like that group then you need to hear pic related. Basically the same instrumentation with a modern update.

Why do people complain about the epic being too long but then love this album
>>63447916
The quality of the music on The Epic doesn't warrant the length.

This. The players in Dave Holland's group are good enough to keep the listener's interest through the whole solo

There is so much wasted talent and potential on The Epic.

The soloing is pretty below average on the whole on that album. Washington (though stilted and cliched) and the pianist are the only ones who do anything cool.
The guitar, trombone and trumpet solos are downright painful to listen to.
Half the time it's like nobody is listening to each other and the choral vocals were very clearly added afterwards because they just plain don't integrate properly with the smaller ensemble's playing.
Listening to this right now, which is great if you like intrusive Pac Man noises.

You'll love it. Also, try this incredible piece of work:
>Andrew Hill - Judgment!
Been listening to pic related a lot. That duet on Summertime is fucking brilliant. One of the most interesting versions of it I've ever heard.
Why are jazz threads always so slow and overlooked?

/mu/ doesn't like jazz
Jazz has some of the best cover art in music.

Probably my favorite modern jazz album. I don't usually like Chris Potter very much but he's amazing on this.
