Is it weird that I don't like listening to music through headphones? It feels sort of aurally claustrophobic. I prefer having the music fill the air around me.
yeah it's weird

But then you can't hear every fine detail.
You at least have to listen to your favorites in headphones.
>>63434732
Nah I'm with you anon. I like the sound "hitting" me than just in my ears. Feels fuller. Headphones are a concession so we don't bother our neighbors, it's just that we want the best possible headphones for that is all.

I'm not much of an audiophile. As long as I can make out the lyrics, all's good.

yeah headphones suck, but they're cheaper than loudspeakers and an amp and sub setup.
everyone also says they can be comfy too. but you know what's comfy? not having two loudspeakers strapped to your head.
and then open headphones they say you can have a out of head experience but it's the difference of a loudspeaker being 2 or 4 cm from your head.
headphones are definitely a compromise of sound quality that headphone manufacturers have glorified into some sort of hifi experience
i wish i had floorstanders and a sub

Not weird at all op, sometimes I feel the same way if I use my headphones too long, ill want to listen through speakers
>>63434770
not if you have good speakers
Jesus all off you are what's wrong with /mu/
>>63435112
This has been a pretty alright discussion so far, I'm not seeing why you're so mad.
Sorry I bothered you though, I bet you contribute so much to this board :^)
>>63435006
what?
>>63435112
id bet some music is supposed to be listened through speakers and not headphones
i doubt a lot of noise and drone arent meant to be heard through speakers
>>63435278
I was quoting you for emphasis.
>>63434956
>loudspeakers and an amp and sub setup
Fuck that, this is all I need.
>>63434732
headphones allow for more detail but speakers are more exciting to listen to and allow for a fuller bodied experience
>>63435413
but a sub is very important for the lowest frequencies as most loudspeakers especially smaller ones get wonky under 100hz
i know you don't have a lot of room but damn with the distance between the loudspeakers you might as well just switch your music to mono.
>>63435722
>might as well just switch your music to mono
I really don't care about mono versus stereo. Who cares which side certain sounds are hitting you from?
>>63435569
>headphones allow for more detail
i feel this isn't true at all. well positioned speakers give excellent detail and have great extension into the higher frequencies. never got the impression that i missed something on loudspeakers except on the cheapest of setups like a boombox or boxset system.
>>63435814
>Who cares which side certain sounds are hitting you from?
i think most people care about sound localization.

>i think most people care about sound localization.
What difference does it even make, animeposter? The only people I ever see discussing mono vs. stereo are the same who buy 60-dollar Mobile Fidelity records.
>>63436174
i really don't see anything wrong with taking advantage of a stereo recording using a properly spaced stereo system. it doesn't really matter too much for poorly recorded rock music or edm but sometimes when you have good recording it gives a pleasant room filling quality and some separation of instrument positions. like a crude representation of a concert hall in your room
>>63436562
But, like, I can't imagine a concert sounding all that different if all the sound was coming from one spot.
