What are some artists that had a really sad drop in quality?
Exuma made three really great, very creative folk albums before making like ten albums that were all forgettable junkanoo. Some good songs, though, like Attica and Exuma's Reincarnation.

Albert King.
Born Under a Bad Sign easily stands among the top 10 blues albums of all time, Years Gone By and I'll Play the Blues for You were also superb (and the albums in-between were good too) but then Stax (and the subsequent record companies) put him with the most dull musicians/producers and it all sank into mediocrity.
Whoever thought that mixing Albert's guitar to be below some random session musician on I Want to Get Funky deserves a good beating.
It's all downhill from here

What bands actually stay really consistant after really long careers?
Unless they make one album or two and quit it seems like bands most always decline in quality consistently, sometimes they come back from it like weezer but it seems like talent just runs out for everyone.
it's really sad actually.
