There are a bunch of popular rock bands both past and present that I feel are equal to my local rock scene (as well as popular bands that I feel are worse). A lot of times, when a band gets popular, it's just a case of them being in the right place at the right time and/or knowing the right people. It's not always because of their own merit.
I mean, what's really the difference between Ed Sheeran and any other local guy with a acoustic guitar? What's really the difference between Sum-41 and some pop-punk group formed in a garage?
