Hey guys I'm starting a EDM project tomorrow in which all the tracks are to be in 6/8 time signature.
Similar to E.M.M.A.s song featured in the video in link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXeBZ-UnZ4w
Does /mu/ have any other examples of this style of music strictly in either 3/4, 6/4 or 6/8?
9/8 n 12/8 is not desired

>>63270654
6/8 and 3/4 are literally the same u fucking goober. 6/8 reduces to 3/4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Y7yRqGn3zU
>>63270972
>being this retarded
3/4 is in triple meter, 6/8 is in duple meter. Learn theory.
>>63270972
no they actually aren't,
3/4 is a simple/triple time sig whilst 6/8 is a compound/duple time sig
you count them differently
>>63270897
cheers but thats 12/8 senpai
>>63271064
>>63271044
>>63271102
well whether you will admit it or not, at least we know you learnt something today young anon
>>63270654
12/8 is just two bars of 6/8 without the dividing line invetween beats 2 and 3.
>>63270654
Wtf that song sucks. Why would you want to emulate that?
>>63270654
Look up armenian Rabiz music.
>>63270897
erm 4/4 son. House music is like 95% all 4/4 thats why they call it 4 to the floor.
There's just some major swing on this track.
>>63272900
>Rabiz music
this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx_yv_f1qhk
is all rabiz music in tripe meter?
>>63270654
That's fucking dumb.
5/4 or 4/4 only.
>>63273066
Stop posting anytime now.
>>63273835
counting triplets isnt counting the time sig.
>>63270654
just do your shit with fruity loops for a month, link it to soundcloud threads and get feedback. you can get sample packs in google.
>>63270897
>Time signature thread
>First reply gets it wrong
Every time.
>>63270972
> thinking music and fraction notations are the same.
I bet you say "hashtag C" not C sharp...
>>63270897
go away
>>63271081
Actually its 144/96. Count those microbeats desu.
>>63270972
please leave
>>63271102
>do something stupid
>HEY GUYS I WAS JUST PRETENDING TO BE RETARDED, TROLLED YOU SO HARD LMAO
I don't get why polyrhythm seems so uncommon in electronic music, it's far easier to do odd measures such as 7/8 when you don't have to actually play.
>>63273991
Because most electronic music is lowest-common-denominator dance shit.
>>63273991
polyrhythms are really common in electronic music what the fuck are you talking about?
>>63274014
Hey reddit
>>63270654
i thought of doing 14/88 time signature war music.
>>63273991
Because, good luck DJing that.
2-step is already near impossible to mix.
>>63274020
I guess I must have listened to the wrong artists then.
>>63274026
How would it be harder than playing an instrument ? That makes no sense.
>>63270897
>>63271081
This bugged me enough to work it out. It depends on how your counting but im guessing Disclosure produced this at 4/4

>there are people still commenting to that stupid post I made last night
You didn't think people could be this retarded, did you?
>>63274062
>I guess I must have listened to the wrong artists then.
Literally listen to any techno track and you'll most likely find a Hemiola
yfw 80bpm samples work in a 160bpm beat flawlessly? :^)
>>63274128
That's because Half note = 80bpm is equal to Quarter note = 160bpm. Which basically means that if you count in half notes instead of quarter notes in 160bpm, you will get 80bpm
>>63274109
>Hemiola
I was thinking about some more complex stuff.

>>63273353
A very big chunk of it is. Don't listen to that though. I reccomend this guy. He has more taste, although it's still kind of folk pop. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alQYZtSGhBA
>>63274208
>I was thinking about some more complex stuff.
Still polyrythms tho, also thanks for reminding me why I hate Allan Holdsworth's music so much.
>>63274269
Not that anon but that's exactly why I love Holds-worth's stuff
>>63274269
I hate his solos but his chords progressions and rhythm's cool.
>>63270972
I prefer to just play everything in 4/4 with quarter note triplets
>>63270972
good god if you don't know theory don't say anything
>no one posted this yet
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcnRT-m9MYo
complete music nigger here, someone please explain time signatures to my retarded ass, i want to learn :(
>>63275924
you see that retarded looking number thing in OP's post
the top number is the numbers of beats in a measure
the bottom number is what note-length (such as quarter, half, in this case eighth) is equivalent to one beat
so in that pic each measure is 6 beats long, with each beat being an eighth note
