I'd say Crack the Skye is my favorite from them.
>>63266411
what are your thoughts on it
>>63266510
I'm not all that good at describing how I like music. But I do think it's a fantastic album. Remission is great too,
Crack the skye is their best work

There's a lot to be said about mastodon.
Thematically, I really liked Leviathan.
>"Blood and Thunder"
>"I am Ahab"
>"Iron Tusk"
>"Aqua Dementia"
All of these blew me away, but the song "Hearts Alive" for me was the absolute gem of this album.

we'll have to agree to disagree on that.
its a great album
but i feel that blood mountain is consistently more interesting interesting with its songs and their structure
i hope you see where im coming from

"The Wolf is Loose" really felt like it could have been on Leviathan.
>>63266967
either way that song is still badass
learned that song on guitar and jam to it often
ayy Mastodon wallpaper I finally have an excuse to post
>>63266870
a lot of the appeal feels like the story aspect (maybe in a lyrical sense)
its a great album either way
what do you guys feel that their heaviest riff is
also do any of you here play guitar
Only just listened to Leviathan, how do I into Crack the Skye? Any sort of feels to be ready for or a mindset to get into?
>>63268083
all you need to do is listen to the first track and your ready for the rest of it
I absolutely love the breakdown in capillarian crest
>>63268346
the hand of stone is one of their best riffs in my opinion
it makes me want to bang your head until every last brain cell is dead
>>63268346
sleeping giant as well
but also in every other aspect
Crack the Skye>Leviathan=Blood Mountain>Remission>Once More Round the Sun>>>The Hunter

I really like it when that crushing tone in Trainwreck kicks in.
Blood Mountain is my favorite album from the band. Perfect mixed the prog metal they had always toyed with along side the aggressive and abrasive characteristics of their earlier.
The whole album is great, but the wolf is loose, crystal skull, circle of cysquatch, and siberian divide are standouts.
>>63268534
what do you think of bladecatcher
or hand of stone
Sleeping Giant is. my. shit.
Love that goddamned delayed guitar line in the intro. whole song kicks ass though.
>>63268582
Imma give both of them a fresh listen, I don't want to make a judgement if they're not fresh. Gimme a few minutes.
>>63268622
i absolutely agree with you
it surprised me when i listened to it and not every single person on the planet knew about it
its absolutely killer

>Bladecatcher
Love it. Weird as fuck, but it definitely adds to the atmosphere of the album. One of the prog aspects of the band showing up.
>Hand of stone
It's good, but not a standout to me. Riff is good, but the song isn't incredibly interesting to me.

Right on Leviathan is where it's at
>this has been out for 10 already
Fucking hell where has time gone?
>>63268846
i can see where your coming from
what is everyones opinions on the newest album
>>63268943
boring will never listen to again
>>63268966
why do you think its so boring, blunt anon?
>>63267079
The opening of Blood and Thunder is pretty intense
Favorite album: Crack the Skye
Favorite song: This Mortal Soil
Also does anyone think The Hunter is really underrated? Probably has the best written lyrics imo.
>>63269759
i havent had yet to properly listen to it
