My favorite thing in music is fuzz/distortion on sections that seem more appropriate for 100% clean guitar
like, arpeggiated, fingerpicked, notes ringing, etc.
Best example is 3:20 in Me Vs Maradona Vs Elvis by Brand New

I loooooove the way the fuzz kind of pulls and crackles the notes together.
Poetry used in place of lyrics, like in the Doors.
Not like in rap btw.

Very rhythmic drumbeat.
Stuff like the one part of The Rock by The Who, you know the part. Or the one part of Von Himmel Hoch by Kraftwerk.

>soloist briefly quotes a famous standard before launching into a barrage of notes
>Extended drum solos that slowly increase in tempo and volume
>minimal dissonant saxophone

Examples please. I like this too.
"operatic" vocals in music where they don't belong or otherwise wouldn't be found
when Lee Morgan and people like him start ripping real fast on a trumpet
anything with a tuba
Whatever this is

That high pitched notes combined with the low sounding beats in the background

oh damn it's something I see and love all the time but never can remember explicit moments
like I hear it a lot in modest mouse like the voice cracking him into falsetto and he just sticks with it all the time, it creates a really interesting vocal style when you can embrace that crack I guess?
this is Brand New doing You Won't Know live in Australia a while back, his voice cracks from all the screaming and he just sticks with the high note lol, but i love the way it sounds so much, can feel his vocal cords struggling to keep up and it's an interesting kind of enjoyment, cos your own vocal cords subtly kind of mimic what you're listening to, and it feels neat.

Trilling guitars a la Silent Hill. Dredg does it a lot.

I wish there was a way to search for music based on just that specific sound.

oooh i loved bug eyes for that
Also speaking of dredg that whole like
kind of noodly piano with loud prominent drums.
Very strange thing to explain without hearing it, I don't know if anyone would know what I'm talking about even then though.
