hi /mu/, I'm thinking of buying a record player, but I'm unsure what to buy
I don't want to spend too much, just recommend me good ones that aren't too expensive

The stylus seams very off-putting
>>63227398
this
A lot of people neglect the stylus seam when they're buying a new deck but if that shit isn't sewed up properly it'll fall right off
In the same boat as OP I'm willy to spend $100(USD) I can go up to about $200, it's just for casual listening, like once a week while I trip or while I'm drunk. I've been collecting used vinyls because I like the art and I haven't listened to most of them.
Tl;Dr good record player ~$100 for a filthy casual

$200 is a decent budget.
check out the u turn orbit and the at lp 120
technics 1200 mk2
or
technics 1210 mk2
the only difference is the colour;
1200 = silver
1210 = black
do this and get a shrue m447 cartridge and stylus
be a champ
i have worked with these turntables for 12 years, would not use any other
they went out of production years ago but they are solid, one of mine is from 1999
>>63227649
Is the 120 worth it? Or can I get away with the lp 60

Yeah, if you've already got a nice amplifier with a phono stage, get the U-Turn Orbit. The base model without preamp is just $179.
Buy a 90's amp. something good from ages ago. it won't cost you much.
Spend some money on a decent set of used speakers. I got some Q-Audio 2010i as new for 60% of the price.
Buy an old Technics or something like that.
If you don't want to spend a lot of money buy old. Audio doesn't age like other tech... You won't have the best set-up but it'll be better than a shit new set-up.
Don't buy anything without a counterweight... My tracking force is at <1.5g. Some shit cheap turntables are at 5g or more. that will fuck records.
Beg and borrow from older family is a good way to go.
tl;dr
Don't buy shit. Buy good old stuff. It won't fuck your shit.
>>63227659
If you only use it for listening, don't get one of these. Let a turntablist have it.
LOL
You can't get a good record player for less than ~$500
Just buy whatever is cheap on craigslist, stick a at92e cartridge on it and be happy.
>>63227783
why? they can buy their own shit on a free market.
>more people falling for the vinyl meme
>>63226978
>Not shopping vintage
Loads of great decks out in flea markets and pawn shops, they don't have to be new
>>63227850
It's just objectively the better way to use an increasingly rare deck, rather than let it collect dust on some hipster's ikea shelf
>>63227904
>i have never collected anything in my life
>>63227920
I'll have you know I've got 2 crates of meme plastic in my room kiddo
>>63226960
Gotcha covered, OP

>>63227866
But it's fun ;-;

>hooj choons
you are a living bleme
>>63227696
i got mine about 2 weeks ago. it like it so far. set up was easy. quality seems okay for the price.
>>63229054
Don't fall for the "falling for the vinyl meme" meme.
>>63227874
Quality vintage turntables that are well maintained and in good condition are generally quite pricey. I don't understand where this "buy vintage" idea comes from.
