thought recently it might be a good idea to start a dedicated OP that explains post-nightcore & links to the best releases, or maybe include that stuff in a Pastebin
that way we'd get less idiots jumping into the thread to share their earth-shattering revelations to the tune of "this is just speeding up a song and putting an anime girl on it"

Who here wants to help me find a vocal sample that will sound right over the hook of a song I'm working on? If somebody gets me something that works real well I'll give you credit, but I'm stuck.

Here's the hook as it sounds in the song: https://soundcloud.com/littletinysounds/shrine-of-the-fallen-hook/s-23Nxp

Here's the hook at the sample's original speed (what would probably be better if I want the sample to sound really Nightcore): https://soundcloud.com/littletinysounds/shrine-of-the-fallen-hook-slow/s-MmCC0

yeah thats coming towards the end of the month :D basic its open to any of the artists that are well known in the community. everyone can submit 1 track, it can either be a track you've already made or a track made just for this compilation. this track is meant to promot you so make sure it represents you and your work. gonna start collecting tracks from people come march 27th and then drop the album on april 1st. I still need to set up a bandcamp, so if you have any ideas or suggestions for the name of the bandcamp, album or anything else please let me know

This doesn't sound like the nice, catchy Nigthcore I loved back in the early 2000's. These nu-"Nightcore" songs sound like they've been through a blender.
0/10, not a pleasant listen or catchy even in the slightest.

woop woop ^.^
>>
>>63242477
It wouldn't need it, but it wouldn't hurt the release. I'll only add something if I feel it is worth it. I have some free time since a lot of why it's taking a bit is that the album has two collaborative tracks and an ambient track between those two. I need to have the two tracks done before I make the ambient one (because they're heavily based on the others). If I add another thing it'll probably be instrumental and it'll probably go between Long Road to Augusta and the track I'm doing with Prisma.

Also I'm not making any promises, but I have a lot of video editing skills so I am thinking of making a visual aspect.

Which one are you?
>>
Where exactly does nightcore end and post-nightcore begin?
>>
So do I just get a J pop song speed it up a lil and get my weeb money?
>>
>>63245642
the only universal difference so far is that post-nightcore is a calculated reaction to nightcore.
post-nightcore artists are quite diverse, but there are a few commonalities. basically every song is sped up, with more trebly sounds than other genres. most post-nightcore artists rely heavily on sampling, and anime aesthetics. these qualities are similar to traditional nightcore.
unlike nightcore, post-nightcore isn't bound to sampling. some artists create their own sounds. post-nightcore is typically more confrontational than nightcore. many artists use effects and glitches to alter the samples. post-nightcore also offers a more diverse pallet of sample sources than its predecessor. rather than valuing any genre more than another, post-nightcore values it's diversity of musical stylings. i think one of the most interesting things to emerge is the similarities between disparate genres/tones/moods when you speed them up.
an aesthetic difference is post-nightcore's queer identity. idk whether this has much to do with the genre. could just be a meme in these threads, but i consider queerness when conceptualizing my music. would be curious whether other artists actively do so.

no this came from wanting of experiment with music with out just slowing it down, so yes we are doing the opposite of vaporwave in a sense, but it isnt to do with wanting to become popular. if we wanted that kind of success then we'd have it by now.

where are you're points other than, hur dur stop doing things I dont like. for example you said this is just speeding up music, which really isnt true, a lot of the stuff coming from this is starting to use there own original stuff. take me for example, I get a sample of anime characters talking and then compose music over it. doing this creates a different and interesting flow to the music.

No, you're simply playing into the hands of the infinite irony machine. To be meta, you would have to create a nightcore track that is entirely original and not even sped up.

thats completely subjective :^ )

creativity is subjective :^ )

skill is subjective :^ )

I don't want to stop doing what I enjoy just for internet points and having some random guy on the internet have a better opinion on myself, no offense.
I will keep on enjoying pretentious, silly meme shit for as long as I get a kick out of it.
>>
>>63254861

this is not for just you to decide
>-you are not creative since you are copying an already uncreative style
this is also not for just you to decide

are you intentionally overlooking all the posts that prove you wrong?

>hedonism
lmao lad at least go all the way and devote your life to drug orgies instead of listening to shitty internet music and getting fat

>>63254948
they aren't subjective you fucking retard
do you follow or expand upon the compositional traditions laid down by people like Pierre Schafer? No -> you are not an experimental musician

did you get the idea for your music by copying something that had been done for almost a decade on youtube? yes -> you are not creative

do you make your music by sliding the speed bar on audacity? yes -> you are not skilled

>>63254981
>are you intentionally overlooking all the posts that prove you wrong?
if anyone in this thread wasted over half an hour on the derivative shit theyre posting they should probably kill themselves

Again, that requires more effort from me than I'm willing to output. I am 100% happy with my life, thank you for your concern.

>tfw post-nightcore has more potential for experimentation than vaporwave or oceangrunge
>tfw its aesthetic is constantly evolving
>tfw it's a literal goldmine of untapped potential even with all these producers hopping on board
>tfw it could split into several distinct subgenres
>tfw we may have stumbled on the future of electronic music

Godspeed /ncg/, never stop doing what you're doing. Remember to spread the gospel so more artists take a shot at this budding genre.

Daily reminder that we can also evolve beyond animu

Is Horrible Recordings some sort of label?
Someone tell me what it is

are you sure you arent thinking of Terrible Records? I know they are a label but I've never heard of Horrible Recordings
>>
What software do you use to make nightcore?
>>
I've never listened to this current /mu/ meme sub genre, but this forever guy is saving me the time. If he's the type of talentless hack that "produces" this kind of shit, I want nothing to do with it.

this is a good start to build apon, keep working at it and I'm sure you'll get something cool out of it. I'd say try avoid making songs that are too long tho like with the 3rd track on this. it tends to put people off.

I run horrible recordings. It's started a joke that evolved separately from /mu/, but I still lurk these threads quietly. I just like seeing the microgenres you guys come up with.
>>
>>63256201
This is neat as fuck, i like this alot
>>
>>63257592
Thanks! What about it specifically do you like?
>>
>>63258033
its probably the most expiremental post-nightcore so far, and there needs to be alot more of it. That was actually a direction i was originally planning on making. Its just really cool. Its different, it may not be the most musical, but it sounds cool
>>
>>63258164
I was emphasizing experimental over musical, potentially to a fault. I've been focusing on weird/obscure source material to make up for my lack of original inputs/instrumentation.
>>
>>63255386
It's a good idea, but most of the trash that's posted here is either lazy as shit or crappy glitched out sounding shit with little to no effort and not even good in a curatorial sense like vaporwave. Also I speed songs up but I don't call them nightcore due to the implications of it being lazy weeb trash.
>>
If I were to put stems out for one of my songs would anybody be interested in doing remixes?
>>
wise fwom your gwave!

I hope every single one of you dies in a horrible fire.

they're both autistic, you're autistic, white, and like anime .gifs

why not just *literally* kill yourself?
>>

I think those plays come from your tracks being embedded in an outside page, like of someone embeds the track in a blog post instead of posting the link.

When I make nightcore I conceptualize a cool anime girl driving a fast motorcycle.

if u wanna make 12 tone, that's cool. i like elysia crampton lecturing me on queer theory and how it relates to her composition. i dont think ur very offbase with a lot of ur criticisms, but get ur head out of ur ass, trying to tell a bunch of austrian birdwatching forum posters to emulate boulez rather than ferraro.
