They're two very different beasts,
loveless is all gloss and production; spiderland is very stripped back, raw and eerie. It's a personal choice. I like spiderland more but loveless is also one of my favorite albums. Red House Painters down colorful hill is another early 90's album that ranks up there with loveless and spiderland too in my opinion.
