no question
his entire musical career and output led up to this point
>>
>>63084800
The start.
>>
>>63084800
ravedeath
only the anthony daddy dick suckers pick virgins
>>
>>63084800
Ravedeath > Virgins > Love Streams > Harmony
>>
>>63084800
Harmony in Ultraviolet gave me Whitecaps of White Noise so it'll always be at the top of the list.
>>
>>63084928
Blood Rainbow though

Ravedeath>Love Streams= Harmony= Virgins> Radio Amor = Haunt me > Imaginary Country
>>
you know what's underrated, his EP Norberg, a 20 minute live recording from a mine shaft in Norway, his closest thing to straight ambient, and very pretty
>>
>>63085017
Gonna give it a listen now
>>
>>63084800
Ravedeath > Virgins > Love Streams = Radio > Harmony = Mirages = Imaginary Country > Mirages > rest/collabs

But honestly you can't go wrong with anything. Tim Hecker may be p4k core and whatever but the guy has such a talent and skill and vision its not even funny how bad he makes the rest of the people in ambient and associated genres look. At this point in his career nobody comes close to him in any way.

Any other answer is wrong

Pretty good ratings, but how the fuck is mirages so low? The last 2 tracks already make it legendary.
>>
>>63085124
honestly i like by the throat better than any album of his. the only one i genuinely liked(and recently too) was virgins. ravedeath and harmony were okay and radio amor was just bleh. ravedeath and harmony have these cool songs like in the fog and rainbow blood but then the rest of the album is pretty forgettable

is there anything in his work more like virgins or the previous aforementioned tracks where there's more progression
>>
>>63085187
love streams maybe?
>>
>>63085177
shit made a mistake, mirages is there twice... forget that second, mirages is equal to harmony and country
i dont think its that low, its just lower than the other stuff which is just stellar
>>
>>63085187
Put Ravedeath on high volume, some moments will feel extremely fucking visceral, and you'll notice a lot of melody.

Love streams is even more in the moment, but Ravedeath is "darker" and colder, which would be closer to Killshot.
>>
>>63085187
maybe ambient isn't for you if you need it to be in your face all the time
>>
>live room and live room out isn't one song

I'm still mad at this.
>>
>>63085258
the way he structures his albums is just another trademark of his... personally I like it, it doesnt even matter that much his albums are albums you listen to in full from start to finish anyway
>>
>>63085233
maybe but its not like this is the case with all ambient works i think. my favs include by the throat, d|p, love is a stream, tired sounds of, 76:14, and opn if you include him(i wouldnt really), and i dont think theyre all in your face. those do sounds like im entry level poseur core tho desu baka senpai

>>63085205
ill try it out

>>63085230
i have to revisit ravedeath and uv since i think after listening to virgins i might like them more
>>
Ravedeath > HiUV > Virgins > An Imaginary Country > Radio Amor > Mirages > Haunt Me
>>
>>63085366
harmony this high
>>
>>63085384
where else would it be?
>>
>>63085444
much lower
its the only tim hecker record that is overrated
>>
>>63085498
how can one person be so wrong.
>>
>>63085498
I'm kinda interested why you think that because I've never heard anyone call HiUV overrated
>>
>>63085517
i asked that question myself when i saw your ratings
only thing that redeems you is ravedeath on the first rank but anybody with ears would make the correct choice there
>>63085589
its just bland. it doesnt feel as complete and musically/artistically rich as his other albums with the only exception being Haunt me which is similarly empty
>>
where does one start with tim hecker

been interested for a while figured id finally do it
>>
>>63085631
I just listened to his stuff for the first time yesterday and Virgins is one of the most transcendental things I've ever heard
The chart in >>63085124 seems like it's pretty accurate though
>>
>>63085655
word.

OPN, caretaker and grouper are 2 of my fav artists ever i hear tim is of a similar vein

I'm not >>63085517 so dont get mad at me bby.
To each his own I guess but you're in a minority not liking HiUV there bud
>>
>>63085688
not mad at all
just pointing out harmony pales in comparison to ravedeath, virgins, radio, love streams and such
>>
>>63085713
Interesting. Where do you rate Love Streams, out of curiosity? Because I feel it's one of his weakest records in years
>>
>>63085713
all of his releases are at least 7/10
>>

Obviously his best work
>>
>>63085767
yes, but harmony is the 7
>>63085765
its better than you think. listen to it more. its not virgins nor ravedeath but its better than other stuff.
maybe only radio comes close.
the thing is i would prefer tim to go back to his analogue sound, the pianos and organs and stuff, but love streams is straight up interesting melodically. i also looove the main theme in bijie dream/voice crack, one of the best melodies tim has came up with
>>
>>63085818
oh no I agree about Harmony, but it's still a good album even if overrated
>>
>>63085818
Mmm, I've listened to it a fair few times and can't get into it personally. I like Music of the Air and the Violet Instrumentals but it just feels uncharacteristically unstructured and messy generally, not very cohesive. Too much OPN referencing not done well enough IMO
>>
>>63085918
those were exactly my first thoughts
it is just different... it definitely is very deliberate and has its own structure, its not as random as OPN stuff even though it sounds like it at first
I admit tim shouldve spent a bit more time polishing it but i think once you get to know the album its quite engaging and rewarding
>>
>>63085970
Fair enough, might give it a special listen just for you anon
