> this song comes out last month in hypothetical world
> people say Kurts vocal delivery is very abstract and interesting
> lyrics are similar too what Young Thug would do if he was in a rock band
> riff is now going to be worshiped like in real life
> gets no radio play because Five Finger Death Punch owns dad rock radio

It would fare quite well because it's a great song.

The music video would be people on their phones on Snapchat and emojis everywhere
Throw in a few vine memes and you're good to go
>>

trip/dubs aside.
no, it would still be a good song but it just wouldn't have the same edge in a post nickelback landscape.

he would've gotten the fat cheerleaders he wanted. That was one of the only details the execs wouldn't give him IIRC. I'm not sure if this is good or bad message for body issue. what would lena dunham say?

I would almost bet my right testicle that 90% of people ITT weren't even alive when this was released. That being the case, this song would just be another drop in the piss bucket of oversaturated home recordings posted on bandcamp or whatever means you faggot millennials use to distribute your trash.

It was only popular due to the stark contrast of what was happening around them. Hair band craze was dying, everyone and everything had an image and a marketing gimmick, even punk rock was marketed with a look. There wasn't any bands that were 3 dudes in shitty tshirts playing music, like we think of the typical rock band nowadays. Now every rock band that uses clean intros and distorted choruses is known as "post-grunge".

The lyrics resonated with many apathetic youth that were too careless to be angry like the punks. The reason it would go unnoticed today is because there is no contrast. There is every genre imaginable of music and with internet/home recording being the simplest thing to do (if you're remotely tech savvy) anyone can write depressing lyrics over a power chord. Rock music is at an all time low and if you only listened to the radio or watched TV you would be inclined to think it is dead. Electronic music/hip hop/pop is dominating the air waves because our culture is completely different. We cannot be asked to sit through a 30 second instrumental section when our adhd culture cannot wait 2 minutes in public without pulling out a cell phone for partial entertainment. Here we are now, entertain us.

After mentioning the awful realm of 80s hair metal and mostly lousy punk you call this the low point of rock?

80's alternative scene was pretty great famu

Nah, I didn't mean to imply Nirvana are bad. I like Nirvana, I just believe that if smells like teen spirit was released in 2016, it would go completely unnoticed.
>>63056957
Nope, just got home from work and wanted to shitpost. But I do think what I said is true for the most part. The channels of acquiring music were different and MTV pushed them pretty big.

Hair metal best metal faggot

nirvana was VERY good band, and they would get noticed faster in age of internet
