I would respect the reviewer's opinions if they were reviewing an artist like Milo or Shabazz, who are legitimately attempting (successfully or not is honestly up to your subjective opinion) to push the boundaries of hip hop and what it means to be a hip hop artist.
And Painting With may be my favorite pop-era AnCo album. I understand why someone would call it shit, but it's also their most Beach Boys-goes-psychedelic-electronic album.

Milo (and Hellfyre Club in general) is the effective anti-folk equivalent of hip hop. Name one other artist that has successfully inverted the entire genre of hip hop.
Shabazz should be self explanatory. Nothing else sounds like him, and nothing that is similar eschews hip hop cliches like he does.

I don't think DS2 should have earned such a high score, but innovation is not the only litmus test of quality.
I'd argue that the three facets of quality are development, complexity, and novelty. An album can be amazing without bringing anything new to the table, and an album can be somewhat bad despite influencing later, greater work.
