I had a roommate from college who was always courteous, studious, and quiet. He went off to a physics PhD program immediately after undgrad. A year after graduation he sent some of us from college a bizarre message on Facebook asking for help with a business plan for an operating system or something he was developing. We responded a little bit and thought it was odd but didn't really go anywhere with it. Then he started constantly posting bizarre statuses on Facebook at all hours of the day. He started writing long Facebook notes, things like scientific theories that made absolutely no sense. About a month after this started he posted that he'd failed out of grad school and he didn't post anything for months. It turned out he'd had an episode of manic psychosis. It took him a couple years to get his life back together afterwards.
Some of the stuff Kanye is posting reminds me of what that guy was posting, and it really scares me.
It must be hard bearing the burden of an entire species on your shoulders. In 50 years mankind will realise what they've let slip through their fingers by not taking Kanye seriously.
